Unhinged Overnight

What's It About?

unhinged.png

Doh Minhyeok is living a nightmare disguised as a fantasy. Forced to play the role of a cold-blooded tyrant by a relentless System, he's one skipped "brooding session" away from a death sentence. But the icy exterior starts to crack when he crosses paths with Lee Wuyeon. Wuyeon is the perfect "clumsy darling" trope, and more importantly, he's a walking dead zone for the System's influence. Minhyeok begins to pursue Wuyeon with a desperate intensity, but as the lines between survival and genuine attraction blur, he has to wonder if he's chasing a lifeline or a life sentence.

Unhinged Overnight has a story by Gimsid and art by Jeongnensi. English localization by Lezhin. Published by Lezhin (April 14, 2026). Rated M.

This story begins with an explicit sex scene. As he climaxes, Doh Minhyeok wonders why he hasn't died yet.

Then the story backs up and we see that Doh Minhyeok has somehow been reborn into a game system that requires him to play the part of a perfect, aloof, and not at all pleasant rich man. That's pretty hard for him, as he's just a normal person…but every single mistake he makes cause him to die and be reawakened at the beginning of the scenario. There no god here, helping him to redo a life with cheat code skills, Minhyeok is forced to relive the day over hundreds of time just to the office without dying…and he never knows what will set the system off. From lint on his jacket to his posture in the shower, he could die for any reason.

So when he meets, that is to say, collides with, Lee Wuyeon, and the nightmare gets really complicated. Apparently, they are supposed to get together? But why? And will Minhyeok ever get out of this game system?

The setting is quotidian, but the set-up is dystopian. Forced to play a role that does not come naturally to him, Doh Minhyeok has no idea what he is doing or to what end, but he knows he has to be with Lee Wuyeon to survive.

The art suits this story very well, with dark settings for Minhyeok's awakenings and a glowing red death sentence screen for every failure. You can just about hear the siren blaring. Gimsid is smart enough to shorten the repeated scenes immediately, because yes, we get it, it is exhausting to do the same things over and over.

Rooted in violence and grim by design, this is not a cute, fluffy romance, but it might get there in the end.
