| Paprika (movie) | Masterpiece | 'Coz it's Satoshi Kon's final film, and brings together so much of what I like about him as a director. Total respect for a massive creative loss to anime and film in general. |
| Penguindrum (TV) | Masterpiece | It's complicated and appealing at the same time...peeling back the layers is massively interesting and involving. |
| Planetes (TV) | Masterpiece | Seriously good in everything it tries to do...with one of the most perfect endings in anime. Completely satisfying! |

| Scrapped Princess (TV) | Excellent | A brilliant fantasy that creates a fantastic world and populates it with characters I get to care about...not a lot more I can ask for! |

| Snow White with the Red Hair (TV) | Excellent | A lovely, heartwarming romance, with super characters that delight and entertain. |
| Sound of the Sky (TV) | Excellent | Heartwarming and gentle... |
| Spice and Wolf (TV) | Masterpiece | Both seasons. Holo and Lawrence are a wonderful couple, and you get to see their romance develop in the most wonderful way. |
| Spirited Away (movie) | Masterpiece | The atmosphere created is wonderful, and the heroine gets to grow up and develop before our very eyes! |
| Steins;Gate (TV) | Masterpiece | So involving, especially the second half..and I'm really glad we got to relax with the additional episode at the end, which rounded out the romantic aspect perfectly. |
| Summer Wars (movie) | Excellent | So great watching the family pull together ... and Oz is beautifully drawn. |
| (The) Tatami Galaxy (TV) | Masterpiece | Brilliantly integrated, funny and serious at the same time…and uses anime for what only it can do. |

| Welcome to the NHK (TV) | Masterpiece | It's brave in its choice of subject matter, and very touching in its treatment of it. |
