Why exactly is Dai-Guard rated older children (language, violence, panty shots)?

I've seen most of it. It gets more serious as the series progresses. It would probably be too slow to really entertain younger kids anyway. It takes awhile before the story really gets going.

If I remember correctly, involves people who work in an office, so I'm sure the older audiences would understand the inevitable white-collar humor that kids wouldn't understand.

I have seen it and I can't recall anything that would make it unsuitible for kids, though some of the humor is more adult in the sense that alot of the humor revolves around the stupidity of buercratic and corporate Japan and would likely go over younger peoples heads.
I once saw Blue Gender being sold as OK for kids. I think the age recomendation (unless the recomendation is based on appeal to children) is a case of taking things too far the other way. All the Best, Nani? |

Dai-Guard is rated for older children mainly because of the mild language in the dialogue. And technically, anything involving giant robots is not for all ages, as it involves fighting and explosions.

There's a hot springs ep. No, I don't recall we see anything, but it's a male & female character on a date(unlikely couple as I recall, but I forget which 2--I do remember they didn't want to be found out--secondary cast, not the 3 pilots)
And there are some issues with the girl's dad's death--that he wasn't necessarily the selfless hero the girl had made him in her memories so she's been treating her step-dad horribly for years. I'd gamble the dad's death, being dealt with so directly, might be the major issue. Yes, anime loves orphens, but they often refer to the parents' deaths in passing unlike this show which it becomes a major plot issue in the girl's development. She has to accept he basically abandoned her & her mom to prove his theories, not that he was murdered or taken from her, whatever romantic theories she had that I can't recall right now. |
