I haven't yet seen this on the website or in the forums so my apologies if someone already posted it.

Tonight (Thursday April 21st 2011) Star Blazers airs for the first time on TV since the mid-1980s.

Syfy has added it to their anime lineup.

It starts in about six minutes (2:00 am EST, 12:00 am MST, 10:00 pm PST)

It's a classic anime and the epitome of anime space opera (IMHO).

It's also an anime in which every animation cell was all hand-painted rather than computer generated.

It may be dated but it's a classic.

Check it out!

Every so often something good happens to restore your faith in the universe. This is one of those times.

Worth watching just for the awesome theme song. Too bad it looks like they hacked up the closing.

Still, all hail the return of Leader Desslock, most bad ass of all bad guys!

Maybe this means that Sy-Fy will show the live action film in
the future?

Anyhow it is nice to see this is on tv again, too bad they keep
"shafting" this anime block by putting it on later & later.

Also (just in case) the theme song is just a slightly altered
version of the Japanese theme song. It also has a very similar
sound-alike in the Age of Empires 3 theme.

This is great news, SB was one of my first introductions to anime.
Is anyone else a little worried with how the live action movie will turn out?

I thought it was out in Japan...

It looked pretty cool to me from the trailers.

And since it does feature a Steven Tyler song, it has a good chance of at least a DVD release in the USA (and maybe even a limited theater run similar to the Death Note movies).

The one problem I had with the show is that it is so darn long.
It kind of just drags on and on.

Of course the last time I watched it was back in the days of VHS and JUST the Iscandar series was 20 VHS tapes.....of course each tape only had 2 episdoes on it (I hear the DVDs are not that much better).
