Cardcaptors kinda destroyed Card Captor Sakura. I'd recommend just buying the uncut DVDs instead....the show will make a lot more sense and actually be true to the show.

Eh... I never could get that bothered by Cardcaptors, even as a CLAMP fan. I just chose to ignore it and buy the subtitled version, but I actually don't mind the existence of Cardcaptors if I treat it as a separate entity from the original Japanese version, dubbed for 5 year olds not anime purists. One of the entertainment editors at the university newspaper to which I used to contribute articles and reviews was a big fan of Cardcaptors... maybe if I had had some guts and moxy and a touch of "not caring whether or not I look like a fanboy when talking to a girl" back then, I would have educated her about the differences between Cardcaptors and Cardcaptor Sakura, but if she enjoys it, what do I care?

It's still on the air here in Canada, so I guess some people watch it.

plus, online petitions don't work. it's just too easy to make and too easy to get people to sign when they either can't or won't influence the marketing process.

it'd be more influential to dig up KidsWB's telephone number and pass it around to people willing to call them asking for CC back.

And, frankly, I'm not sure why you'd even want CC on TV. It was a hideous disaster that I hope never airs again. The show itself is great... but Nelvana's dubbed version can easily be considered one of the worst anime hacks of all time, only surpassed (IMO) by Battle of the Planets.

Interestingly, I was recently interviewed (again) about the editing of Anime for the North American market (primarilly in regard to broadcast) and one of the topics that came up was Cardcaptors.

I'm personally not a big fan fo the series, neither in its original, nor in its modified format, but I just couldn't see any reason to justify what was done to the show.

True, CC might be a good show when judged on its own (a matter of opinion, I won't deny anyone the right to like CC), but given the current status of the Anime market in North America and in Japan, there really was no reason to modify the original.

Just for fun, here's how CCS sub is doing vs. CC dub in terms of amazon.com sales rank on a volume by volume basis.

Code:
CCS sub-
Vol. 1:  5221
Vol. 2:  5206
Vol. 3:  5324
Vol. 4:  5297
Vol. 5:  5312
Vol. 6:  5296
Vol. 7:  5283
Vol. 8:  5262
Vol. 9:  5264
Vol. 10: 5429
Vol. 11: 5422
Vol. 12: 2513
Vol. 13: 1527
Vol. 14: 1511
Movie:   6381

CC dub-
Vol. 1:  14038
Vol. 2:  14263
Vol. 3:  19523
Vol. 4:  19476
Vol. 5:  18179
Vol. 6:  19477
Vol. 7:  18177
Vol. 8:  15280
Vol. 9:  13558
Movie:   3138

While this isn't exactly scientific, but suffice to say the sub is in demand while the dub... well... isn't.

Dubs, as usual, suck. But this one takes the cake. In a post-"Sailor Scout" world, no one can pull a stunt like CC and get away with it. No one. And in conclusion...

Eh, I saw one episode of the dubbed Card Captors one day on the WB when I was bored. I didn't like it at all, but everyone tells me to see the sub. It doesn't really seem like my kinda show though.

if you seriously want cc back on tv, you have to put a lot more effort into showing kidswb that there is interest in the series than just putting up an online petition.

the only people who listen to online petitions are fans.

I remember watching CCS when it first came out on the WB. I didn't mind it at first (I am being honst. Razz ), but once I picked up the first sub DVD, I didn't care for the dub anymore and becasue Pin released the Dub and Sub on different DVDs, I care for it all.

That describes a Television Edit much better than it does a Dub. A dub idealy would only change the spoken language, an edit would change that and many other things. Eh, it's minor, just a pet peve...
