Okay, this thread is here to discuss lame, disappointing, or just plain stupid endings in anime...
Try not to put any spoilers if you can.... and when you mention a particular series, put the title in bold, so whoever's reading it, can skip it.
okay, now for my two cents....
of coarse EOE
and Robotech Battlecry (okay, okay, video games based on anime may count too)

Hmm... 3 x 3 Eyes, Hellsing.
Are there any actual endings?!
I don't want to spoil anything, but damnit! I feel so unfulfilled. I hate these gaping holes of endings. Nothing's finished! Are we just left to our imaginations to finish? Is someone going to pick up where they left off? Sure, the series was fun to watch, but are we gonna have to wait years and years like for Tenchi to finish a story completely?

The only truly dissatsifying endings I have seen to an anime (I'll grant my experience is a bit more limited than many here) would be the final (episode 12) episode of Mobile Suit Gundam the 08th MS Team and the ending of Char's Counterattack. Both felt trite, silly, and empty, Char's Counterattack particularly irked me as it was so completely out of mood for a Gundam story. Other than that I haven't seen anything that ended in a truly dissatifying way.

True, Kind of like Ranma 1/2. Although I think everyone gets a pretty goofd idea how the story (the love triangles and all) are going to turn out.

Hm... I think I'd actually rather have an open-ended, cliffhanger ending than a lame "crap, we're running out of time/ideas/money. Let's wrap this up quick." And then there's those series that start out good, get better and better... and then die. Like Kenshin.

Kare Kano.
Gainax Co-Founder Hiroyuki Yamaga last Aug: "I feel that the ending is unsatisfactory."
'tis not a good sign when even *they* say it's a lousy way to end...

Hands down, Rurouni Kenshin. Should have ended with the Kyoto arc. Instead they drag it on and fight those stupid geomancer things and it just gets worse and worse and worse. Berserk, while the rest of the show is fantastic, the ending is a complete cliffhanger and cuts off at episode 25.
After re-watching it, I kinda like the ending of Hellsing. End of Evangelion stands, in my mind, as one of the best anime endings, next to Escaflowne and SaishuuHeiki Kanojo.

I thought Cowboy Bebop had a pretty sad ending. Spike drops dead on the floor, bunch of henchmen are speechless and just watching Spike's dead body. wtf happens to Jet and Faye??? do they just drop dead also and mourn Spike's death???

I though Bebop had one of the best endings I ever saw. Faye found her past, the last time you see her she is lying on the floor where her bed was when she was a child, Ed found her father and then set out on her own (with Ein of course) and Spike finished his issue with Vicious.
As for the ending of Berserk, I would rather they ended it the way they did (and that was because the manga that is is based on was not finished when they wrote the tv show) then to just make up some ending.
I am actully having a hard time coming up with a show I thought had a truely crummy ending, well cept for shows with no endings like Ranma 1/2
I vote for Eva then simply cause I still do not fully understand what the hell the ending was all about.

Uhg, the ending of Candidate for Goddess was so bad. I didn't really like the show too much anyway, but they could have at least ended it well!

I forget about Ed... But didn't Faye show up again just in time to weep over Spike a bit and shatter any hope she might have had of an idealistic outcome?
I thought Spike and Vicious's fates were appropriate, but Faye's last appearance still kind of throws me.

I thought the first episode of Berserk was the last episode, and the rest of the episodes were just flashbacks on how he he got stronger, meeting new friends, gaining popularity, learning the secret of the King of Egg necklace and how he got the weird symbol on his neck.

Yes, and Spike no longer really had a reason to live, Julia was dead, and he revenged her death, it was over. I completely agree, it has to be one of my favorite endings ever, along with Evangelion (all of it, movie and series, they go together...)
As for bad endings, I would have to say Char's Counterattack, Sakura Diaries, Endless Waltz (No mobile suits ever again?! yeah right...), and Hellsing's could have been better... and of what I have heard, Kare Kano's is really bad...
