I don't know where to put it but I think this is the best place. It has come to my attention that I'm getting the feeling that moving and locking threads isn't the only thing that mods do on these here forums. So, I wonder, what else do you guys do? Forgive my empty headedness, but I've only seen you guys do that and most of the time it's been only Nagisa and Tony K. I've seen on the forums.

Basically, I can lock, delete, move, and make sticky threads, edit posts, remove reports, check IP addresses, and post in a staff-only forum that none of you are able to see.

I guess the staff only forums is were you decide if someone needs to be banned since you didn't mention "banning" as one of your jobs (and either you or Nagisa have mentioned it somewhere before).

The one time I remember hearing Nagisa say that someone was going to be banned it was during AX. He noted that he needed to check with someone on the staff before actually banning, or perhaps having someone do the banning.

I know someone said once that only the Administrator (Tempest, I think) can ban. I figure the Staff Only forums is where they bring up that subject to Tempest and discuss it. I'm sure other things are discussed as well (like the need for new rules or site issues), but I figure that is one of them.

Tempest can ban people, SakechanBD can ban people, Dan42 can and so can I.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was under the impression that only Tempest could.
I'm curious though, what kind of things get discussed in the staff-only forum?

Staff-only subjects that we don't need to be privy to.
That's the way it is at the board I handle.

I'm not asking for specifics, just the types of things that get discussed.

Not much, just site-related stuff like staff discussion, Encycolopedia issues, convention coverage, news postings, and the like. It's just like the regular forums, but "staff-only" to avoid the clutter of everyone else. It's actually pretty quiet (at least compared to the regular forums).

Special 'private' forums that I am not privy too are always soooo intriguing. It's like putting a 'Do not press sign' on a button or the strange need to know whats behind that 'Do not enter' sign. I know that it will be nothing exciting, it's just the fact that I can't see it.

So it's basically similar to operation meetings or conference calls, correct? How often do you have these meetings?

They're not scheduled or anything. You just post about them whenever the time comes. For instance, on the ocassion that a convention comes up, tempest will post a list of things to cover such as interviews with industry people, panel reports, and a head count of which staff members are actually going in person.
The Staff forum will discuss staff or regular forum accounts introducing new members like when I came aboard or pointing out trouble makers in the regular forums. Actually, we have a sub-forum within the Staff forum where we put all those spam threads you've been seeing. We lock them and move them there to ban the account/IP address.
The Encyc. staff forum basically covers the banning of spammers who post false information. If you ever see users with the title "SPAMMER" under their names, that's them "The One being banned" or BANwarerumono, aka "Shadow Warrior Chronicles X" .
Anyway, the News report forum is for any of our staff (mostly overseas correspondents) who have found things to report fresh from the land of the Hinomaru itself. A lot of them are from Japanese websites that need translating.
There's nothing really formal about it. It's all just discussion and feedback like you'd see in the regular forums, and to tell you the truth I don't get to participate much being a lowly mod .

I looked at the memberlist for the mods and noticed that there are Tony K., Nagisa, Zac, SakechanBD, tempest, Cookie, and two other people with the job title moderator. Are these two people still a part of the ANN staff, or does the list need to be updated?
I hope I'm not a spammer
