Am I the only one who likes anime unleashed on TechTV?

I absolutely adore TechTV, and I'm a HUGE supporter of Anime Unleashed. I've enjoyed just about every anime they've run so far (especially Crest & Banner of the Stars, SoulTaker, Gatekeepers 21, and getting to rewatch Serial Experiments Lain & Boogiepop Phantom), and I can't wait to see what series they'll acquire next.

I just wish they wouldn't run so many commercials is all. Sad

only thing I know about them is that they edit for time and not for content. they try and get as much commercials in as they can.

I always watch AU on TechTV! They air some great shows! Surprised
Although I wasn't too crazy about Betterman or SoulTaker.
I'm an avid viewer, just wish there weren't so many commercial breaks. Confused

They're going to be showing Geneshaft, am I right? If you've seen it, is it worth watching?

I think that it's because that's the way they were shown in Japan... Not sure tho... Besides, how could anyone NOT love Betterman???!!!!

In Japan, they only have one commercial break in the middle. I think the reason for all the commercials is because TechTV really isn't that big of a network, and probably has to bend to a lot of advertisers' wills in order to continue getting money coming in.

As for Betterman, I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I can see where all the "psychobabble" might put others off. Admittedly, that show confused the bejesus out of me the first time & a half through, as well. Laughing

I don't know...I just never really got into it.
But perhaps if I had finished watching it, I would have a different opinion on the show. Anime smallmouth + sweatdrop

I haven't watched anime unleashed since techtv moved it out of the 4:30/3:30 time slot to make room for another Xplay episode. Since I was home alone for the weekend and my parents weren't home to object, I woke up at the 1:30 to see Lain and I loved it. It is nice that they don't "butcher" the show as much as CN would have.

I love Anime Unleashed. However since they changed the time slot it's harder for me to watch it. My favorite anime they showed was Lain...I just loved that!

I like Anime Unleashed; it gives Cartoon Network some healthy competition. Still, the anime AU has shown hasn't exactly interested me, and the ones that have I already own ("Lain", "SoulTaker").

And just for the record, AU does occasionally edit for content. At first they only edited for time, but then when "SoulTaker" aired they mysteriously edited several uses of the s-word from Shiro's speech (quite bizarre, especially considering they allowed a string of s-bombs in an episode of "Lain"). Shortly thereafter, they changed their FAQ to reflect their slightly altered policy on editing. The FAQ can be found here. It's not that AU will always perform these kinds of edits; it's just that AU is not immune from editing a show for content.

Well, the S-word is one of those things the FCC will just not allow, save for special occasions (i.e. South Park). But again, since TechTV is one of those smaller cable channels, they can get away with it sometimes (Lain, as well as one earlier SoulTaker episode where Shirou got one in).

I'm not sure, but I THINK they may have edited for gore in Boogiepop Phantom once. Okay, y'know in the episode with the guy who was obsessed with dating sims, how that one girl that was selling the stuff gets nailed in the back of the head by some other fleash-eating girl in a high school uniform? For some reason, the actual hit (the bloody part) was black & white, and I forget if it was like that originally or if TechTV did that intentionally. Of course, given how the one girl slitting her wrists over the piano and the one guy spoiler[(with his sister's help)] psychically crushing the one guy's hand & the kitten remained intact, it wouldn't make much sense.

I watch AU, but lately I haven't been watching it because of the time and I have school. So I been missing Banner of the Stars.
My favorite animes from AU are Dual, Boogiepop Phantom, Soul Taker, and Gate Keepers 21.
I like Crest of the Stars, but there are some parts that are boring.
Lain was too weird and confusing to me.
I hate Betterman, it sucked and it was too annoying.

I overall like AU thought only for CoTS and Dual! PTA. I just couldnt get into Betterman though I sat through it from 8 to about episode 23 through the lack of anything else on.

I missed Gatekeepers , and due to my present schedule will miss Geneshaft and Silent Mobius which I was looking forward to seeing.

Boggiepop was good though very much a mind bender for me.

I sometimes swear there are more commericals than actual show time, and if I see that Screensavers commerical one more time Ill go nuts..

The TechTV block would be much better if there weren't three commercial breaks during every show! My "Pause" finger gets tired, y'know?

Seriously, though, some of the shows they've presented have been just awesome (Boogiepop Phantom, Gatekeepers 21, Dual!), though they have had some duds (Soul Taker, Betterman).
