So asking anyone who has been up with the Japanese releases or etc.
Is most of the series just episodic? I mean no real storyline comes up? Its just Ginko going around helping people every volume? Love that as it is but it sounds like it gets repetitive.. |

I've only read the first two english volumes, but from what I know, the series is entirely episodic. So no story arcs or anything like that...

Unless the manga goes far beyond the anime and for some reason they decide to add an overarching story after 6 volumes of material then the entire manga is episodic (just as the anime is). Honestly, Mushishi is excellent but meant to be enjoyed a few episodes or chapters at a time. Due to the lack of a continuous plot you shouldn't be reaching the end of volume 2 going "Damn! Can't wait for the next volume to come out so I can find out whats gonna happen next!". It's one of those shows that you watch a handful of episodes of after you're done a crappy day of work or school or something.

For me watching the anime, it was the secondary characters that made it so enjoyable. I'm eager to see how closely they were adapted from the book.
Mushishi is episodic and so fr the books have taken awhile to read... like having just a few bites of chocolate each day |
