Hopefully this doesn't mean the worst and by that I mean it will cease publication.

Say what you want about the contents of said magazine, the cover art by Takamichi has always been iconic for it as well as pretty safe for work, one example of it the article image. He's also a mangaka and none of his own works are nsfw. His latest work, Hyakumanjou Labyrinth, even got nominated for the Taisho Award...

His art is really nice, it's the only good thing about the magazine, but I wouldn't go as far as saying none of it is NSFW. He's done plenty of nude art for his art books that isn't lewd, about as offensive as the bath scene from Totoro, but I wouldn't want to be caught looking at either of those things at work.

Wait doesn't France have the same laws as the UK in relation to this?

I kinda hope it's a call to arms for artists and the like to stop dealing with countries which prevent it's sale.

Honestly i think it's more or less the same most likely even tougther here nowaday, before ebook with DMM, dlsite ... I used to either bought doujinshi and anthology during my trip there or ordering and shipping with tenso and such and never got any problem with customs whatever NSFW thing it is. Now with ebook it's even safer, some irl friend who can't accept ebook still buy them physicaly without trouble

Well, all signs point to bad news. Wouldn’t be surprised if this is the end.

I'm really hoping this is the end of things. It'd be good to see Japan crack down on child pornography. Hopefully this extends to other publications/anthologies (and then doujinshi) as well. It's difficult to regulate everything, but... well, it'd be good to see what changes it'd bring, should this actually be the end of Comic LO.

lol, if this is the end, it'll be because of financial reasons, the government has nothing to do with it.

I really hope Japan's more focused on real child pornography, which is still a problem there since possession was only made illegal a few years ago, rather than drawings. Rolling Eyes

All I can see that doing is what they feared Animé like Space battleship Yamato was going to do.

It’s frustrating that Handley took a plea deal since I’m fairly certain lolicon manga wouldn’t be considered obscene in the US - especially something like Comic LO that is quite stylized and artistic. I understand why he did, but still annoying that the legal issues weren’t ever considered by a judge at any level.

I’m guessing that publication may cease or change (maybe digital copies only?) I’m also assuming the reasons are financial and not legal.

Could be, print is getting less and less profitable. Digital publications are getting more popular on the other hand.

Anime adaptation? Visual novel adaptation? Live-Actio... Oh wait, probably not.

Can't imagine many important announcements for a lolicon hentai magazine tbh, I'm kinda guessing this will be the end of it, much like Comic RIN some years back.

You made a new account just to post this? There is no evidence that "LO" is harmful to anyone. There's some evidence that it actually "distracts" people from going after the real stuff. This magazine ending would not be a good thing. This is NOT child porn. There's no children involved. You (and people with similar flawed logic) need to learn/understand the difference between drawings and real life. That's the only truly dangerous thing here - people that think drawings and real life are the same thing.

Hopefully the part I bolded. I don't read anything like this, hell I don't import anything at all except CDs now and then, but I like freedom of speech and anti-censorship unless it's proven to actually harm people. No one is provably harmed by this content. It would be a major loss if any reason other than money was the reason they shut down. If they just can't make enough money, then I'm 100% okay with them dying off.
