Quite enjoying this one so far, the first episode pretty much convinced me this would serve as a good replacement for HINAMATSURI this season. I find Chio an interesting character and like the fact she's not just a passenger in her story but the driver 99% of the time. It's funny how a lot of her problems stem from burning the candle at both ends by gaming all night and who can't relate to that from at least one point in their lives.
You can call a lot of the situations absurd but at the same time there is something inherently believable about them as well, which makes it feel that much more fun. Tbh I don't think I'll be able to forget about 'Bloody Butterfly' anytime in the near future, lol.

The first episode was good, the second had me in stiches. Manana trying to get closer to popular girl Hosokawa was great. Its a trope seen in some manga when a friend leaves you behind to join the popular group, but its quickly and savagely inverted here. "Bloody Butterfly" was used so seriously and then the next episode its like who the heck would call themselves that is another example of the show making fun of itself. However, the third episode wasn't quite as hilarious and I think we could have waited another episode before bringing back the gang member. It may not be last season's Hinamatsuri, but so far its gotten enough laughs out of me to make me come back for more.

It's like a cross between Nichijou and Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou in the best of ways with some Sakamoto thrown in for good measure. (^.^')

Chio's creator, Kawasaki Tadataka, is primarily a hentai mangaka by trade, Chio being their first non-porn work.
Most of their works are pretty goofy by theme.

I'd say;
WHAT A SPOT ON REVIEW!
As I read, I came to respect the review because the writer really pours justifying effort in writing it. Bravo.
Since I found myself unable to summerize how great this manga (anime) is to my friend, these competent review will be my guide to describe how much I love Chio Chan. It reminds me a lot of another favorite manga (anime) of mine, Soremachi.
Ep 1. I have low expectations of the anime since I read it's gonna be made by same team of Handa kun.. But it's turns out to be worthy adaptation effort. Phew..!
Ep 2. Another strong adaptation. No real complain here.
However in ep 2, I found one part that I love so much was left out (perhaps too much or too dangerous? Doubt so since Chio manage to get into much much more self inflicted dangerous situation)
after Hosokawa alley scene there's a part where Manana and Chio bump each other so hard and almost get hit by passing truck thus reflecting the earlier "it's dangerous to walk on the car side of the road" LOL
Ep 3. I'm pretty surprised I enjoy the kabbadi scene since I found most kabbadi jokes and the senpai character to be somewhat weak in the original manga. So I'm rather pleased the studio manage to boost the pace and timing of the comedy.
Looking forward on more episode review of Chio's School Road! I wonder how many would they adapt and how much boring part will be chopped.

I personally don't like comedies like this show (and also Asobi Asobase). I never found these show to be funny. On other hand, shows like prison school are more funny

This series has been mostly hilarious so far, but the second half of episode 3 left a bad taste in my mouth (and this is from someone who found certain jokes in Harukana Receive funny).

Kushitori will be back before too long. Some interesting development to be had when they get around to that(for some reason they're rearranging chapters).

Episode 5.
Ok, my old man amnesia is acting up again.
When Chio is activating her "sixth sense" in the restroom, the music playing in the background is a reference to what from where again?
It sounds so familiar but I can't put my finger on it
EDIT: Nevermind, I remembered.
Soo, that was an interesting insert. It unfortunately did distract me from the scene at the time, which made the bit not seem as funny as it could have been.

I know right. It did what it set out to do, (telling us they wanted) to make a naruto reference. But such reference instead of making me laugh kept me busy pondering why they went with that "not particularly emblematic" song, I am guessing getting the rights for that one is easy, as Cinderella girls did a cover of it in one of its albums

Is that right? No wonder I was thinking chio's leg had curves too feminine and mature for what one would normally expect in this genre. Not that I mind it

Surprised there was no mention of Momo's crush on the teacher, or Manana's *terrible* advice to go for it because any blame will fall on him, no matter what.
