Has anybody heard of any cons near the Phoenix area? That's where I live, and I've only heard of in NYC, San Francisco, etc.

Sorry about responding so late, but I just now saw this topic. I hope you see this, but just in case I'll be sending you a PM as well, BigSmokin.
I also noticed your post in the new con-goer topic in which that you would like to go to AniZona. There is a also convention coming up the last weekend in January (Jan 26-27). It's call the "Phoenix Cactus Comicon." I'm not sure how many years it has been running, but I could tell when I attended for the first time last year that it was run pretty decently. It's no Anime Expo or San Diego Comicon, but it still is a lot of fun. This year is shaping up to be great though. It's not entirely anime-themed, but Greg Ayres, Luci Christian and Michelle Ruff are the anime guests that have been announced thus far. There are other great guests coming too, such as Walter Koenig (Mr. Chekov from the original Star Trek TV series and movies), Jeremy Bulloch (the original Boba Fett from none other than Star Wars), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and several other comic book and media guests. http://www.phoenixcomicon.com/ My brother (he isn't a member of ANN) and I are planning on attending on the 26th and BrothersElric is going to be coming down from Utah to attend with us. |

Because the event failed to book a minimum of 75 hotel rooms by the December 16, 2007 deadline, they were forced to cancel this year's AniZona scheduled for March.
They hope to try again in March 2009. |
