Ten of the 60 Doyle-written Holmes stories are still copyrighed in the U.S. until 1/1/2023, though character names are trademarked. Since all of them are now public domain in Japan, this show could start a trend in more anime about Sherlock. Of course, there have been a number of Holmes-inspired anime in the last 8 years.
