Commercial success not only to good timing with the release and lots of screenings, but also a very satisfied audience who aren't there just for the hype.
Bodes well for an eventual international release a few months from now.

I hope we get a western theatrical release soon, it seems odd we haven't heard anything about who's getting it.

Wait until next year for potential announcements. I imagine the production and marketing staff put everything into getting the December release sorted and deserve their year-end break. There's also the matter of Europe and the Americas having their Christmas holidays as well, so international partners wouldn't be available anyway until their breaks are over.

Considering Viz has the Jujutsu Kaisen TV series, I assume they'll release the movie too.

Viz doesn't hold the rights to JJK, CR is the license holder. CR only sublicensed the home video rights to Viz. If anybody, CR will most likely do a theatrical release of the movie like they did with Konosuba.
