After a few weeks full of a lot of "not much," we finally had a ton of news drop on us over the weekend. Provided, it's for a lot of games that are a long way out; I don't think any one of us are lacking for games to play (I'd bet a lot of people still haven't gotten around to checking out Dragon's Dogma 2, anyway). But it's a good chance to look this stuff over!

I want to check out DD2 but don’t know if I want to put up with some of the BS I’ve read about the game. And this is a game I waited a decade and a half for (didn’t play Dark Arisen though Razz). I also still haven’t broken in the new (old games) I’ve bought which you can blame Star Rail for.

I’m also probably getting Nioh 3 eventhough it’s basically aping Rise Of The Ronin which aped on Nioh to begin with

-Splatoon Raiders: Fitting they reveal this on June 10 considering how Splatoon debuted at E3 2014 on June 10. 10 years is about when you can start getting into spinoff territory, especially since Deep Cut didn't really get a focused single player campaign like Off the Hook and the Squid Sisters did. With the stranded on an island set up, I can imagine Nintendo getting all sorts of experimental design with that.

-Street Fighter 6: How in the HELL are they gonna work in Ingrid? This is so weird as she's basically an Original Generations character who's now been put into the Street Fighter canon. That'd be like putting Sanger Zonvolt into a Gundam series (to which I say, do that). For now, I'm assuming her hair buns are a sign she is related to the King of All Cosmos from Katamari Damacy.

-Resident Evil: That they're relying so much on Outbreak of all things is fascinating. For years we weren't even sure if it was even in the canon, but then Alyssa's name shows up in RE7 and now her daughter is a protagonist. Also, one theory people are bandying about is that the monster at the end isn't a zombie, but Lisa Trevor, hence the sound of a chain. That is a terrifying possibility.

Speaking of the Switch 2, I wonder how the numbers are- OH DEAR GOD. So, best Nintendo launch ever, fastest-selling Nintendo hardware in the US ever, and shattered the biggest launch in Japan that the PS2 held for 25 years. So, yeah, looks like we're looking at the real deal here, especially since Nintendo has apparently stockpiled a LOT of units to keep up with demand. Lord help us at what a Direct might hold.

Anyway, still just gonna sit here to wait for my e-mail, though Nintendo seems to be going through them at a pretty steady clip.

Finding out that Beast of Reincarnation is from Game Freak made me do a double take for sure.

and famously the voice cast of the original had announced that they hadn't been approached to reprise their roles a few days before the reveal.

You should probably specify that it's the english dub cast, just "the cast" implies it's the original cast you're talking about

At any rate, Solo Leveling is—I'm told—very popular at the moment among the isekai fandom
That's probably true; however, Solo Leveling isn't an isekai.

Code Vein had an amazing character creator, I wish more games would have that level of customization.

P4R: I said as much in the post about the announcement that I'd rather see 1 & both 2s, but I hadn't thought of Q & Q2. Considering where they're stuck a port or remake for those titles would also be nice to see. I understand why they went with 4, but it also seems like the least needed.

As much as I'm exhausted of legacy villains getting brought back, yeah, I'd be down for Lisa Trevor getting brought back. There are all kinds of horrifying things they could do with her, and they'd likely come up with all kinds of freaky designs for her in the RE engine...

Best of luck. Though Nintendo seems to have done a good job of producing enough stock for their initial release.

I haven't said anything about Mina the Hollower because it's an American game (we have to prioritize the Japanese stuff here). But I'm genuinely taken with Mina's aesthetics and I love that it's such a creative take on the Link to the Past formula. You give me something vaguely "Flagship-era Zelda game"-related, I'll come runnin'. Smile

Even though P4G is my favorite game, I'm currently "meh" on the idea of a remake. I didn't have any real hope that Atlus would bring back the voice cast after the P3 Remake, but it's still disappointing. And I share the hesitation around what Atlus/Sega might do around DLC. Theoretically, it should be harder to pull what they did with P3R since the Golden content was more integrated throughout the game, but this is the same company that said P3R was meant to be a complete experience, and then went and sold the Answer anyway. Considering how they love to dip into the same well of selling remixed soundtracks and costumes from prior games, I can't put it past them.

Also, one of the big problems with remakes is it means that an actual Persona 6 is probably even farther away. Considering original Persona 5 is ten years old, I think that sounds more interesting.

Resident Evil 9 seems interesting, but I will continue to wonder if Capcom decided Devil May Cry 5 was actually the end of the series and didn't tell anyone.

Code Vein 2 is the real surprise for me. I would definitely play a sequel since the first one ended in a way that made it pretty tantalizing, but I had no hopes that it would happen.

I really enjoyed the first two Sonic & Sega racing games (and would like to see a remaster for modern consoles), but was bored by lack of variety in Sonic Team Racing (did later tracks mix up the visuals at all?), so I'm looking forward to the new Sonic Racing game. I'm a little worried that it'll still be too Sonic heavy, and getting new characters via dlc isn't as fun as unlocking new ones via progression (and not in the grindy, live-service way), but I'll take what I can get.

I hope not it’s bad enough how superfluous the game felt narratively but to have that be the end of the series? Oooof.

I'm not all that excited for Persona 4: Revival, though. This remake feels a bit like a piss-take. Like... Persona 4: Golden is right over there, as it were, on Steam. It might not look as fancy as current-gen titles, but it's as complete an experience for Persona 4 as anyone would want, even with that god-awful epilogue.

Loool the Golden Epilogue isn't that bad surely??? It's very heartwarming in it's own way, even if Kanji's design is extreme whiplash, and the characters act like it's been 5-10 years when it's barely been 1 year lmao. I really liked it back when I played Golden in 2013, but I know these days Persona 4 is a far more uhh, contentious game to discuss haha.

That said, yeah I do agree, a Persona 4 remake, once again featuring a brand new english cast, definitely feels like a piss take. Though I will admit all these people responding to Yuri, Erin and Amanda saying "Persona 3 I could understand, but Persona 4's cast is irreplaceable!" really confused me, did you guys not see the entire last decade and a half lmaooo. Persona 3's original dub cast was actually mostly consistent throughout the years (Fuuka and Ken got recast once)! Persona 4 had it's voice actors tag in and out almost every other bloody game! They were extremely replaceable, and were in fact, replaced many times. Only Yosuke and Yukiko kept the same english VA for every Persona 4 game. The protagonist too, but he didn't start properly speaking until the spinoffs anyway.

This remake recasting everyone again is honestly dime a dozen for Persona 4, heck who knows, maybe the new VA's will actually get to all stick around if they start milking it all over again.

I guess there's some people who dislike how Naoto embraced her feminine side or Kanji grew up and stopped being a delinquent and since it goes against their head-canon but I thought it was completely fine myself and wrapped things up nicely.

Either they just like 4 more so they care about it more or they grew up with 4 and have more nostalgia for 4 compared to 3. Or maybe since 4 had an anime adaption as well so they're more used to it but like you said I'm pretty sure they changed some VAs for the dub in there.
