Normally I'm a big supporter of dubs but doing one for Cultural Exchange with a Game Centre Girl seems kind of against the entire point of the show. Like, the whole point of the show is that they can't understand each other, right? But if they're both speaking English then, well, awkwarrrrd... I don't know how other shows featuring multiple languages have done dubs in the past.
Not that I care too much since all the preview guide stuff makes it seem like Game Centre Girl is leading up to a creepy age gap romance and I want zero part of that

Nice to have the casts for Kaiju No. 8 and My Dress Up Darling back, though the audio mixing for the first episode of the latter felt really off.
Somehow I'm not surprised they didn't have Sally Amaki dub herself for a variety of reasons (she's busy in Japan, it would probably be cheaper to pay someone local, etc) but at the same time as much as I love Bryn Apprill having both Renji and Lily speak English feels like it's totally missing the actual appeal of the show and the actual cultural exchange part. Like the only way it could have really worked is if they flipped it and Lily speaks primarily in Japanese, and only Sally could have really pulled that off.

I mean, there is a problematic age gap element that they kind of gloss over most of the time but it's been handled pretty cute and wholesome so far.

they got him attempting to use a British accent when he's trying to help her and uses numerous stereotypical British phrases to get his point across. It kinda works

I guess cultural exchange dub got a negative respond, it got a heated discussion on reddit. and someone said that the anime shouldn't get dubbed and should be replaced by dubbing other anime like Ruri Rocks, its kinda like interspecies reviewer but this time its the language barrier issue.

Glad to know it wasn't just me. I thought Gojou sounded SO quiet that I was like did they recast the actor??? But no, the announcement still had Paul Dateh, I think the audio was too low

I thought the same. I thought it was a recast because it sounded off compared to the rest, but as the episode went I realized it was the same actor, just very quiet.
