I guess we're supposed to assume he's more perceptive than he projects, having watched the trio from a distance starting from childhood? |

After discussing the slow movement through time in the first half it's funny to see this episode go backwards.
This episode suddenly being a flashback didn't make sense at first, unless it was to seemingly put Kiyomasa in a slightly better light, until the end where it connected to the last episode and reminded me how it had Shirayuki again. Without the break I think it would have worked a little better, but overall I don't think this was a great return. Presumably it will be more relevant as the season goes on, but that doesn't help it much at this point. |

Pretty sure Kiyomasa and Suzune had no interaction in part 1 until the violent end of the episode, which took place after the part 14 flashback. Unless I'm misremembering.

He may have had no direct interaction with her (I can't remember either), but we did see him covertly watching the trio from the woods, so it's not so hard to extrapolate that to him watching them at many other times over the years and picking up on Suzune's adoration of Junta from her behavior. I think anyone in the village could've noticed it just by casual observation.

I think it's odd that this show is called Sword of the Demon Hunter in English. I think they meant to call it Story of the Demon Hunter which would have made more sense, but it got lost in translation somewhere.

Did Jinya change his name back to Jinta? I’ve gotten so confused by this show. The last two episodes threw me for a loop and I can’t seem to understand how. I haven’t read the novels but I’m also unsure why there was a future sequence at the beginning of the show only for the show to stick with a specific time period that is 50+ years earlier and that we barely see. Maybe the significance is that in the future there aren’t many demons left to kill?

Apologies, I somehow used the "Jinta" name in the part 17 review, now corrected to Jinya. Thanks for pointing that out.

LOL I legitimately thought he changed his name back to Jinta and I missed when he did it! I’m still unsure of when he had a daughter and who he had her with lmao. |

Re the daughter, it's the foundling baby from part 16.

The restaurant served kake soba, not ramen. Ramen did not become popular in Japan until after World War 2. |

While I disagree that episode 18 was that much of a bust (yes, it's slow, but it still suits the overall pace of the series), I definitely agree that episode 19 is possibly the series' strongest this season. And I am also interested to see where the story goes next, and hope that some attention will be given to what happens to Nomari and especially Ofuu in the end; there's been no indication yet that Ofuu persists into the 2000s, but it's hardly out of the question for her.

Hidive managed to release an unfinished episode 21. It's actually quite interesting how the backgrounds are all basically CGI with some filters on them.

Is that what this crap is? Because I am literally abandoning this episode after 8 minutes because I can’t let my eyes bleed anymore. |
