I played this pretty extensively during the previous betas and, gameplay wise, I think they knocked it out of the park. Well-paced, dynamic team action with matches that aren't overly long (one of my biggest hang ups with other MOBAs).
Some of the roster choices are pretty interesting, like first form Frieza and Baby...who STAY on their first form, no transformations. Frieza is reliant on his Dodoria/Zarbon assists and Baby can merge with his teammate to turn them into a tank on the fly - adds a better selection of alternative playstyles.
Which is why I'm a little surprised variety is a point of complaint in the review. But since balancing can change between builds, it's a hard thing to comment on in general.

...this is actually the criticism that has me most confused. One of the game's strongest points is the presentation. I guess the "flatness" of models is more obvious in selection screen close ups, but I feel like that's a minor point.
Being a free to play game with gacha is the big thing I'm not so thrilled about, considering all the baggage that comes with that. It seems even League of Legends is doing gacha stuff now...

Kind of reminds me of "Hero Colosseum" in Xenoverse 2. I loved the mess out of that game.
