It's too bad about Yoko Taro. It seems pretty obvious that a guy like that isn't the type to choose not to make anything, so it seems pretty thoughtless for anyone to say that he doesn't do anything. Game dev can take years even when it goes to plan, and it's rather likely that if he was working for a company like Square Enix that is following the "less risk, focus on the big hitters" mantra that stuff he was doing got canned. I wouldn't be surprised if the only thing Square Enix would still produce with him was a direct Nier sequel, which he may not be interested in making.

Berseria is pretty good and a remake might not be completely pointless. While it did release on Steam and PS4, it is at heart a PS3 game whose visuals were underwhelming even by PS3 standards. If the plan is to bring the visuals up to a standard equal with, or ideally better than, Tales of Arise, that's no bad thing.
If it was truly "the chuuni-est game ever made", then it would have lost that title a few years later when Code Vein released.

They probably are working on Zestiria (the release pattern legitimately seems to be "this is the order we're completing them in" with multiple stuff being worked on at the same time) but I'd hazard a guess that they're putting some effort into tweaking it, or the wonky code is making it difficult to port into Unity. I think at least part of the idea with this project is to try and get the whole series into future-compatible engines...which is literally all of it except Arise, so it'd make sense that Berseria and Zestiria would pop up, it just feels weird because they're getting all the already widescreen-and-HD games done first. (For context: Arise was done in Unreal Engine, the entire series before that point used in-house engines. Symphonia and Vesperia got the first remasters I'm guessing because a lot of the work had already been done to make them easier to port, since Symphonia had already been ported twice and Vesperia was designed for two very different game consoles from the word go).
There was a thing a while back where the people behind the remaster project said they started in chronological order, but something made it difficult and...tbh, I think it was legitimately just that 2D games for the PS1 and PS2 take a lot more work to make look good in HD and widescreen. And if they don't have the source code, doing a port is a lot harder than you'd expect.
I'm not really expecting Zestiria to be hugely changed by the time they get to it, but if it is getting ported to Unity (like all of the other remasters) some of the problems with the way the engine worked (it not running well on...anything really, even if it was really powerful) likely would get ironed out just as a side effect.

-Zelda: Yeah, that's definitely a Zelda movie. Filming just started so we'll see who else shows up in the cast, which the production has been very guarded over.
-Taro: Ugh, consequences of SqEx once again changing directions because they can never commit to anything and keep getting distracted by shiny objects, the latest being AI junk. Dragon Quest and FFXIV continuing to be the load-bearing sectors of that company.
-Elden Ring book: Vaati is an interesting channel to check out because he also goes into some aspects (often with the help of Zullie the Witch) that reveal some stuff associated with Japanese culture that would fly over people's heads. For example, the reason Godwyn's corpse looks like a weird, twisted mermaid is because of mermaid's association in Japanese culture with immortality and how that can often be an unnatural state that's a form of damnation. I always find that intersection of East mythology into typically Western settings fascinating, like how The Legend of Zelda has a lot of Shinto lore built into it or how the Chozo in Metroid are Tengu when you get down to it.
Anyway, back to replaying Metroid Prime before Prime 4 is out

Been a while since I played the PSP version of Corpse Party but I don’t recall Yuka having to go to the bathroom that bad. I also find it comical that would be a deal breaker for some people given the game does something with it’s kid characters most video games don’t do i.e. have them violently maimed & murdered much of which is off screen but still.

On the slightly positive side, the Japanese version of the Corpse Party Collection, and the individual digital versions of each game, all have English language options on them, so people can still get the games if they want them by importing. I think they're also all on Steam right now.

Thighs. Nier: Automata was about 2B's thighs. (The original Nier was about Kaine's butt)

The thing a lot of people don't realize is that Nier Reincarnation WAS a direct sequel to Automata (which Yoko Taro actually troll-revealed two months before end of service).

Guess I need to retrieve Code Vein from my backlog and blow the dust off, because hot damn! I'd love to see a game even try to out-chuuni Berseria.

Also Asia-English releases being sold on sites like PlayAsia if people really want a physical version. Most games Nintendo of America blocked and/or censoring are available on other platforms like Steam or PlayStation. The devs for Sugar Star said since Nintendo of America censored their game in the west people can buy the uncensored version on DLsite in English as well.

Wait, wasn't there a news here on ANN a short while ago how dlsite couldn't accept foreign credit cards any longer, because of payment processors?
This is from their site;
| Quote: | | 【Important Points Regarding Payment/Recommended Payment Methods】
Payment from non-Japanese credit cards may not complete successfully in some cases.
For international users, it may be easier to pay via purchased points. [ Purchase Points ] |

As the site says, it's still possible to pay using a credit card, it just became more cumbersome. Buy points at other vendors linked by DLSite, redeem points, buy stuff with them, you're done.

I mean, she was pretty vocal about needing to pee for part of the game.
But I don't think it's just the pee aspect that got its release cancelled. Though I haven't played Hysteric Birthday so I can't really speak on the content there.
