Depends on pacing, but yeah - most likely.

I remember when it was a big deal that SAO Alicization would be four cour. Slime may have replaced SAO as the big isekai.

May? More like it did long time ago, basically since the after-Alicization SAO - since the popularity of the TenSura novels (and manga adaptation along the way) gone far beyond SAO numbers.

How many arcs would this season even realistically cover. Alicization getting that many episodes makes sense due to that arc literally being longer then the entire series was at that point combined. But is slime about to enter its equivalent to say chimera ant or hueco mundo where the arc is much longer in comparison to what came before. Or are they just kind of speed running the animes end due to the fact that the novels are finished (like maybe we get a season 5 or even 6 later on to wrap up the series)

Based on previous season, 24 eps covered about 3 volumes. So this should take them to about volume 10 thru 16. Vol 17 is side story part. 18 table sitting conclusion and prelude to next arc. So all the way to final arc

Don't worry, it's not just meetings. They also discover the RPG Maker dungeon toolkit.

Then they have meetings about it.

Welcome to 2026, where Slime Meeting Show will air more episodes than One Piece or Super Sentai.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that the novel series recently concluded? No need to hold back anymore when the whole story is now out there ready to be adapted, right?

SAO is not an isekai.

Yeah, a similar situation with Yona of the Dawn.

5 cours is bold, and ordinarily I would be down for more Slime Isekai, but I hope most of it isn't made up of meetings.
