Kristen Bell seems like a great choice for voicing Amy Rose. I do find it interesting that only Tails is voiced by his current game VA, I do wonder if there's some mandate from SEGA that says that Tails can only be voiced by a woman or that maybe Paramount was satisfied with Colleen's performance at the end of Sonic 1 and didn't feel the need to recast her. I do wonder who'll voice Amy in the Japanese dub, because, with the exception of Tails, none of the current Sonic's games Japanese cast reprised their roles. As a Spanish-speaker, I do watch the Sonic movies dubbed into Neutral Spanish, Sonic's voiced by a YouTuber, but Knuckles and Shadow were voiced by the recurring dub VAs for Idris Elba and Keanu Reeves respectively, so maybe there's a chance that Amy will be dubbed by Kristen Bell's recurring dub VA, Romina Marroquín Payró, who has dub some of Kristen most famous roles, such as Anna from Disney's Frozen, but Romina is also well-known for voicing characers such as Yor Forger in Spy × Family, Nagisa Misumi/Cure Black in Pretty Cure and Judy Hopps in Zootopia.

Hope the budget is still reasonable, and they didn't have to pay her Frozen dough to hire her.

Previous movies hired Keanu Reeves & Idris Elba on the voice over side so hiring Kristen Bell isn't going to suddenly make the budget balloon out of control. |

Sounds like a good choice, all things considered.
Now we have to wonder whether Jim will return again as Eggman. |

I was going to say that too, but you got me there. But back on topic, casting Kristen Bell to voice Amy Rose is an interesting choice. I wonder if the director with Kristen Bell's suggestion can be allow to throw in a Frozen reference in Sonic the Hedgehog 4 movie like I don't know maybe Amy Rose can yell "let it go", or say "For the First Time in Forever" as a deliberate reference somewhere. |

As someone who grew up with the old cartoons, and comics it will always feel weird not having Sally Acorn in a Sonic franchise especially one that places an emphasis on storytelling such as film.
The series is dead in the water once Jim Carrey no longer wants to play Robotnik. |

I honestly think it's just a lucky break on her part. She did a cameo for the end of the first movie that they didn't bother to cast an expensive celebrity for. The movie unexpectedly did really well to greenlight multiple sequels and they kept her on rather than change her. If Tails debuted in the 2nd movie with Knuckles he no doubt would have had a celebrity voice. |

If this were still the era of video games where the plot was largely relegated to the manual of the games and maybe a few cutscenes in game you’d maybe have a point. But the modern Sonic games have storytelling in them. The other problem is most Sonic fans have never watched the 90’s cartoons or read the Archie Comics so of course they’re not going to pull anything from there.
If the comic books and the video games can introduce new antagonists pretty sure the moves can do this too. In fact they should since it runs into the same problem that Batman adaptations run into by always defaulting to Joker as if Batman has no other members of his rouges gallery. |

Sometimes, a director or producer fights to keep an actor they really like for the job That's why voice actors like to work as "placement voices" on films before the more well-known Hollywood actors are hired - because sometimes directors and producers do that, and the VA gets to keep the job |

Interesting choice, let's see how it works out as Amy Rose is a different type of character compared to Elsa. Not knocking against Kristen Bell, just not familiar with her work outside of Frozen.

Yeah, I'm willing the bet the only people who know who Sally Acorn is are people pushing 40 these days given how old the show is. The simple answer is the American characters created for the American cartoons and comics are not really 'canon' they're their own thing. Sonic is going to prioritize the original game characters. It's like asking why Link doesn't act like he does in the Zelda cartoon or Simon Belmont isn't a prissy narcissist or Mega Man doesn't talk like a chain smoker like in Captain N. |

While I do agree that most of the people who grew up with the American Sonic canon from the early '90s must be in their mid 40s, I've seen some young Sonic fans that discovered the SatAm show and Archie comic series who wish SEGA could adopt some elements into the game's canon, at least a nod, kind of how in The Super Mario Bros. Movie they included the Mario Bros. Rap from the DiC cartoon.
Kristen Bell voices Anna in Frozen, Elsa is voiced by Idina Menzel. |

Hell, I first played the original Sonic in the early 90s and even I didn't know who Sally Acorn was until fairly recently. I remember seeing episodes of the more comedy-focused animated series but I never knew that the SatAm show was a thing. |

Yeah, if Tails would have appeared sans voice in Sonic 1, he'd absolutely have some Hollywood actor. Colleen kinda hit the jackpot and I'm sure she's the envy of all her voice acting cohorts (unfortunately though I'm sure she's making a fraction of what, like, Keanu freakin' Reeves is) |
