On the one hand, it's nice that Jim Carrey is returning to the screen as Robotnik/Eggman. On the other hand, it's under Paramount Skydance and that company is one that I'm boycotting due to political reasons and leave it at that.

Looking forward to finding out which characters Matt Berry and Nick Offerman will play. I'm hoping they are actual Sonic characters they will voice rather than an original human character made for the film. I feel like the only human characters that should ever be relevant to the overall live-action film story plotline at this point are Dr. Robotnik, Agent Stone, Tom and Maddie. Though I wouldn't mind seeing Krysten Ritter's character make a comeback in the 4th film.

I'm still surprised they chose to cover Shadow's character before metal sonic, considering he wasn't introduced in the games until 7 years after Sonic & Knuckles.

I was wondering if Shadow will be in it, but I'm definitely curious who the new celebrity VA's might be portraying, especially for a Sonic CD adaption (they even fit in an instrumental of "Sonic Boom" in the trailer).

Really curious how they'll handle Robotnik here.

I still don't understand why we can't just get an animated Sonic movie without all the live action crap.

I'm boycotting Paramount Skydance too.

Shadow's wayyy more popular than Metal Sonic(personally I've always thought that Metal Sonic was overrated).

To be fair everyone seems to agree that the live-action films are carried by Jim Carrey so an animated movie probably wouldn't have caught on like the live-action ones did without his performance. And given any animated movie would be CG rather than 2D I can't say I'm too bothered. I doubt they'd do a retro-looking one like Sonic Mania's cutscenes as much as it would be cool. I doubt it'd sell that well either given how popular live-action is compared to animation. Sonic's also in a weird state where the movies are probably more popular than the games are these days so for better or worse the most recognizable Sonic the Hedgehog is the live-action movies.

That is a stacked cast. I still maintain that Carrey is half the soul of these films, and when he’s done, they probably put Sonic in storage for a bit and cast a Persona movie.

Shadow is more popular than Metal Sonic.

Because after 5 Cartoons, an anime, and OVA there seemingly wasn’t any desire to do an animated movie and if there were it never got off the ground as projects in development tend to do.

The games by last check are still profitable for Sega even if the quality has been uneven through the last 2 decades.

I admire your commitment and principles. That said, I've learnt that boycotting doesn't necessarily hurt the parent company; it just hurts the creators and makes the parent company have them pay the price.

Still, it's unfair. If you love the work and want to support them, you have no choice but to pay your way to the corpos earning them a percentage. And if you're against the company's ideology enough to abstain from their properties, the properties themselves take the brunt whilst the company can easily write it off. Either way, the game is rigged. Creators become stifled while the corporations thrive. There really is no way to watch an adaptation of the Mistborn series without selling to Apple.

But I'm just soapboxing myself. Probably have no idea what I'm even talking about. You do you.
