Both seasons started produced simultaneously to minimize delays.

Same...but only to see how they ruined him because there's no way they're doing any of the okama justice and portraying them like they are in the manga.

I mean yeah we are long past the days where LGBTQ characters should be treated as over the top comic relief. Honestly I have no idea how they can adapt him without the offensive stereotypes while still making him recognizable. That stuff was like 90% of his character.

I honestly don't think Bon Clay would be that hard to do, I feel like they could keep him being flamboyant and just tone it down so it's not too stereotypical.

We're definitely not getting him flashing the crew as Nami though, lol

I mean if he's not over the top and derogatory stereotype of the manga then he's not Bon Clay. But to be fair most of the character are already pretty different from the manga versions so it's not like it's unprecedented. They did the same thing with the fanservice and perverted Sanji moments.

Tomorrow Studios could get production down to 18 months per season if they keep being greenlit a season in advance, but that is about it and on a very optimistic timeline.
6 months of pre-production, 6 months shooting (very consistent so far) and at least 6 months for post-production and reshoots. Anything less would lead to the show looking like Power Rangers. 2 and 3 not being shot back-to-back is also of note but LotR style shoots are Herculean efforts in their own right and can lead to a lack of polish. See The Hobbit. OP can´t be an always-shooting production for the same reason HBO´s Harry Potter won´t be.

The lack of reusable sets, the constant need to cast full ensembles every season, tons of R&D and endless CG work and cleanups are the bottlenecks. Who knows what the magical chair process for the showrunner is creating behind the scenes? The one upside is tons of source material, so that the writing process can be sped up.

Drag Race proves that Bon Clay is adaptable. Will he be one-to-one? No, lol.

Portraying a character in a less offensive way is “bad” instead of adapting the character as was to appeal to a minuscule fraction of the fan base.

You guys have to understand just because you think something is charming or funny in its original portrayal doesn’t mean everyone is going to see it in the same way.

And by that extension shouldn’t be considered a legitimate or acceptable portrayal of LGBTQ people.
