I just read the report on The Hollywood Reporter sepsis arising from meningitis. Sepsis is awful, I used to date someone who had to have surgery due to sepsis and I am so glad he pulled through we're still good friends and it was scary not knowing how far it had spread. I feel for her boyfriend, losing her at all is bad enough especially so young but having to watch her get sicker and sicker probably relatively quickly will have been terrifying. She will have suffered as well... this awful all around. R.I.P.

I loved her in Spirited Away's English dub. Gone way too soon. RIP.

God, that sucks; I remember seeing her in Donnie Darko as the little sister. She hadn't acted in awhile but she left an impression. RIP

Gone way too soon. She was a low-key icon of my generation in the early 2000s, and I’m sorry things got hard for her. She deserved better from life and I hope she’s found peace. At least we can still remember her as Chihiro, Lilo, Samara (my first real horror movie, which terrified me when I was 9), and Samantha Darko.

Damn. She did generational roles for a child star only for her to shy away. Lilo + Stitch was one of the first films I fell in love with so this hurts
RIP

Meningitis is a horrible disease. I am beyond shocked to read this headline. Rest in peace.

I'm in utter shock and disbelief about this. I remember being 10 years old and seeing the original Lilo & Stitch movie at what is now an AMC theater when the film was released in 2002. Her voice is unforgettable. She was awesome in Spirited Away as well.

I was unaware she was basically homeless and had to rely on a gofundme for medical care. I thought she was a fairly successful actress back in the day. I have to wonder what kind of stress and hardship she must have endured at such an early age. I think things are better for child actors now but they are still very vulnerable in an industry where not everyone has their best interests. Poor girl.

Second Ghibli voice actor who died young after James Van Der Beek. Hope there's not a third.

Geez, I am incredibly disheartened hearing about so many people recently in the entertainment industry dying very young. It’s so depressing when you think about just how much life all of these individuals had left in them before leaving the world too soon.
