I know there are some real stinkers out there but there are also a few that I've heard good things about.
For example, I haven't seen it but I've heard that Virtua Fighter is actually pretty good. I've mainly only seen older video game animes so my favorite is probably Nightwarriors: Darkstalkers Revenge and my least favorite would have to be the horrid Panzer Dragoon. What about you guys and gals? |

I liked the street fighter anime movie. I cant remember whats the worse game based anime I've seen. I dont like FFUnlimited much...

Oh my goodness King Of Fighters anime based on the Orochi Arc would make me weep with joy. Fatal Fury was very good though. Least favorite was definatley Samurai Showdown, although the game is at the top of my favorite fighting game series.

Haven't seen a lot of game related anime... but favorite is probably Shingetsutan Tsukihime (it is based off a video game, yes?)... nice show.
The worst has already been said... Samurai Shodown. One of my all time favorite game series, but an absolutely awful show.... |

My favorite video game based anime [/i]series was Street Fighter IIV. My favorite movie was Street Fighter Alpha.
As for my least favorite series, that is a tie between Power Stone and Battle Arena Toshiden. My least favorite anime movie (if that's what you want to call it) was Tekken. |

Tsukihime was indeed started as a game... :) And far better than most other game to anime related ones... Since I haven't seen the samurai showdown anime, my pick for the worst would be the Battle Arena Toshinden OVA. In fact, because of that one, I'm pretty averse to fighting games -> anime. |

Alot of anime based on video games usually aren't that good, which they should be because there alot of games out there that could make a great anime.

Actually they don't work that well because many games are based on simple concepts... trying to turn them into an anime typically winds up taking those concepts and stretching them paper-thin. There really isn't much to build on usually, and that's the glaring flaw. |

The Samurai Spirits Asura Zanmaden is actually rather rocking, with some good fight scenes. Liked it enough to get both LDs. MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the movie that came over here.
You know that Samurai Shodown movie was made for TV, right? :) Gunparade March and GateKeepers were both pretty well done anime based on games. GateKeepers was originally a PSX game while GPM was a PC game... And of course there are all the adventure and sim games that get turned into anime. Tokimeki Memorial is pretty blah. Sentimental Graffiti isn't much better... My vote for best game to anime conversion goes to To Heart, which just kicks my ass everytime I watch it. Love that thing. Worst? Hrm...Battle Team Lakers? Gowcaizer? So many to choose from! |

Well don't forget the great Sakura Wars
The horrible Panzer Dragon and the crappy version of Sonic the Hedgehog that came out. I still want to see a Xenogears anime. FFU you can't really argue that it's based off a game because it's a show in it's own right |

Fave: Sonic the Hedgehog. I was obsessed when I was younger.
Least: Pokemon. The idea was good for a few dozen episodes, then it just became very boring. |

Although it's not based on a video game(although there is one made of it) I think Beyblade has to be the worst anime based on a japanese game/craze.

Not been released over here, and probably won't be, as the game it was based on wasn't really widely released over here either. Came out in... 99? 2000? Can't remember. I caught bits of the first episode of the OVA series (two parter? three?), and it did loo pretty nice. I'd love to see it again.... |
