Episode 1 posted recently, Episode 2 scheduled to go up this Friday. (Or thursday, but I think they've moved new ep day forward...) I knew only the name before watching, but it does look interesting. The blurb is essentially "Chicks in space versus big scary monsters."
It seems to be attempting a hard sci-fi approach, with realistic mechs that are more like vaguely human-shaped starfighters and low-key, understated dialog. The lead female, for example, has noone waiting for her back home, but we learn this not through having someone monologue about it or seeing her angst over a lack of pictures in her room or something. We learn it because at mail call, the officer says "Sorry, nothing for you again" and she replies- with a tone that implies acceptance- "That's okay, I'm used to it." The first episode starts us in media res and is devoted to basically filling the viewers mind with questions, which is an arguably cheap but very effective strategy- I'll probably watch it for now just to see what the answers are.
The downsides are poor sound (as in you can barely hear the dialog sometimes), crude animation including some truly pathetic CGI, and exploitive character designs. Yeah, okay, "Chicks in Space" is always kinda borderline, but seriously: The annoyingly obligatory lolicon girl is dressed in an inexplicable bare midriff, and the rest of the cast sports some ridiculous torpedo-tits. Godannar (which is also on ANO), has sillier bustlines, but Godannar is rather silly to begin with, and knows it. This series is apparently trying to be serious science fiction, and the fact that there's twin missile launchers in half the shots is jarring. Plus, the aesthetic if way off. If you try to make them jut that much, they lose their roundness and cease to be appealing. And then there's the needlessly gratuitous ED. Enough about the fanservice.
Swinging back to the good, the ANO player seems to have stabilized after a somewhat rocky launch. I don't have trouble with the streams anymore, unless my ISP is being all dojikko, or sometimes when it's new ep day. It often cuts out the commercials, though. I'm not complaining, but I have a feeling the advertisers will when they get word of it. Really, given the nature of streaming, I can't see any reason not to put the ads in the streams themselves. Yes, clever viewers will fast forward past them. But they do that with TV shows too- channel-surfing for a minute until the show's back on, or leaving to visit the fridge or the bathroom.
Anyway, despite the roughness around the edges and the sporadically puerile attitude, I'll give this a chance. The plotline is interesting, the dialog is firmly-grounded, and the dub acting is good too.

Divergence Eve is, in fact, rather notorious for having a horrible first episode but gradually getting better after that. Later episodes are so much better, in fact, that the oversized breasts become an annoying distraction to the much more serious story content. Ultimately the series takes on a decided sci fi horror feel, with intense content to match the intense music.
The series does not tell a whole story on its own; you will need to also watch the follow-up Misaki Chronicles to get the full story.
