The question i want to ask is.... How can you wait for a volume of a manga series that you love so much?

I am waiting to complete Fullmetal Alchemist, Claymore, and Hirgashi: When They Cry.

It is getting so annoying having to wait for all of the volumes to be released, and i know i just have to be patient Sad . But is there any way that you guys put up with it?

It's hard, but also great if you don't have a big budget so you only spend a little bit each month. Also you get more excited I feel Smile

Also, I reread what I already have, live my life, etc. Just don't think about it that much, like summer vacation, finals, etc Smile It will eventually come (whether you want it to or not- eek! finals!)

What a random question to ask lol.

Patience is key. That and the loads of other manga and anime that fill my time inbetween. I watch more anime than read manga but I recently started Higurashi, tis sweet.
Know what you mean though I've been waiting ages for the next chapter of NANA. I know a 20 year old guy reading shojo manga, whats the world coming to Laughing

I do other things that take up many days, like have a goal set up, so you have other things to think of, soon enough it's out and you weren't even paying attention.

OR

Play some video games? Lol. I don't know, you can follow another story too.

Part of how I stand it is by thinking "if there weren't people like me willing to wait to buy it, then no one would be publishing it at all." Also, it helps to reread things often. It's hard to get too impatient if you can always kick back with another favorite.

Plus, I savor manga while reading it, taking it all the art in a panel before moving to the next, letting the dialogue play in my mind, so it cane take and hour or more to get through a volume of wordy manga. (Negima, for all it's fanservice and action, has a lot of dialogue and takes me about an hour and a half to read a volume.)

I read other stuff, or do other things. Simple as that.

I have an assortment of leftover manga from my purchases last August (I buy my manga almost exclusively at conventions) as well as some scanlated titles on the internet, with most of those being stalled/coming out rather slowly and have a snowball`s chance in hell of being licensed, for the most part. And I'm actually going through my actual volumes extremely slowly at the moment, since I have my fair share of anime to watch as well, both legitimate and through other means.

Just find some other things to do while you wait. I definitely understand where you're coming from, though.

Well usually when I buy manga, I buy the full set at once so I don't usually come across this problem. But if you are buying it as it comes out to conserve money, you can buy it and not read it until you get them all so that you don;t have big gaps between your reading sessions and forget stuff from volumes before.
The one time I bought manga with a big time gap in between and I forgot half of the stuff I was supposed to remember and I wound up just going back and reading the last 2 or 3 volumes to catch myself up on what I had already read.

Same. I love being able to start a good series and finish it asap. if not, ill usually start getting withdrawal symptoms within a few days.
I also tend to reread the series while im at it so i dont miss anything

I read so much, I don't notice.

Sometimes I won't even think to pick up a new volume until it's been out a few weeks...I've even gotten a volume or 2 behind before and had to buy more than 1 at once. Anime hyper

I usually just read something else. But occasionally, I'll come across a series that I just can't stand waiting for. Nana and Berserk (before the bi-monthly release schedule) both made me break down and read the scans. And I never read scans. I usually just have to tell myself that being a scan reader is even worse because the wait seems even longer once you catch up. And I like being able to look forward to new material. In the meantime, sometimes I'll reread the series, sometimes I'll go nuts looking for illustrations and wallpapers, etc, especially if I really need something from that particular series. Or I'll watch the anime version of it, if there is one. I don't particularly like waiting between volumes, but I find that easier than waiting for an entire series to be available before I can read it, or than catching up and having to wait between each chapter. One chapter is just not satisfying enough!

On that note, I'm DYING for Scott Pilgrim volume 5 right now. Anime cry

There are plenty of other things to do to keep yourself occupied while having to wait for the next volume of a series that you love so much. There's school and work, there are video games, there is watching anime, and there are the opportunities to read other series as well. But I do have to say, that sometimes it does get a little irritating when I'm having to wait over a year for the next volume of series to be released. Examples of these would be Spider Sniper and Hellsing. The chapters themselves are monthly releases, so it takes a VERY long time for publishers to acquired the materials necessary to stick in the next volume.

For most of the series it doesn't bother me since I've already seen the anime version, but waiting for Claymore, Hellsing, Suzuka, and Tsukihime which are different or go further than their counterparts drives me freakin' insane. My electronic appliances inform me that it's a conspiracy, and I agree. Wink

Spider Sniper is a manga series that is currently running in Young Animal Arashi, a side project of Young Animal Magazine, which also has Futari Ecchi running it. There's not much for the encyclopedia entry, nor is there much for the official webpage, but it does have quite a following to it. The nature of the manga is such that you would take Berserk and cross with it some kind of comedy series. Therefore it is grotesque and erotic in a comedic fashion.

I was fine up until last week, with waiting on my manga. And then, several friends of mine showed me the "new spot" and I read 50 more chapters. I'll still get the book though, I love that particular series too much to not own it.

As for other manga truth be told I angst over it for a few days and then I forget about it until I see it on the shelf. Or I wait and buy the whole thing at once. Either way, I make it through.
