I am simply curious how many years of the lives of the characters does Ai Yori Aohsi (and of course I mean manga wise lol ) cover before its epilogue (I assume 1-2+) .I know of the 6 month time skip before the epilouge which is the last time notification before the epilouge (which is a 4 years later event). Just how many years are covered in the main story.. I assume that Kaoru starts the story at age 19-21 and Aoi at 18-20 I could be off.

Thanks

If I am not mistaken I believe it covers about a 3 year time span. it starts while Kaoru is still in college before heading to graduate school later on in the manga. I believe it starts in the winter time (like Jan/Feb) and ends in the fall 3 years later. I seem to remember at the beginning when kaoru goes looking for Aoi it's raining and he mentions it's cold outside (as in winter time). I know there are summer breaks from 2 different years that I can remember off the top of my had. I'd have to check all the volumes to be sure but I believe it is indeed about a 3 or so year time span. Before the time jump into the epilogue of course.

Thank you, I was leaning towards 3 years as I have been re going through them myself, well very slowly. I also assumed they married very shortly after Tina left. You know I was surprised they had not had a child yet .. but when it takes 3 3/4 's years to finally wed... I suppose its take your time. they do not look do be out of their mid 20's in the epilogue though.

Well ya figure they were probably just 18-20 since Kaoru had only been in college a little while. I think closer to 19/20 myself. Aoi obviously is about the same age. So if it's 3-31/2 years for the story they're only in their early 20's when it ends. So even with the 4 year age gap they'd still only be in their mid 20's by the complete end. Probably around 26 or 27. As for when they got married...ya never know. I mean we see Kaoru and Aoi spoiler[make love together] at the end and admit everything to everyone. But who knows in the 4 year gap when they got married. it's never even hinted at so just use your imagination heh. I say they wait a year to year and a half to save up money for the Caribbean Cruise honeymoon. Laughing

You know in all honesty them waiting.. Or simply doing it shortly after Tina Leaves... Neither would surprise me. I think although they wanted it quite badly , it was more ceremonial. I mean they were really already each others 'missing piece to the puzzle' nothing is a greater bond then that. But I was I admit surprised not to see a child Wink But since I can use my imagination I can easily see one in the future (or spoiler[as Aoi says 3 Wink with miyabi laughing a bit to herself when Aoi says she have to have her teacher her how to discipline them ] . And I found that scene you spoke of and the after declaration well done. Despite Tina already knowing of course lol. And the bonds they all shared as a family* after 4 years and separation are as strong as ever. Probably one of the best mangas of its genre.

I agree volume 17 was probabally the best ending to anything I've read in long while. It was quite the wait but worth it in my view.

Indeed I agree, AYA had one of the best endings for its genre (or most any genre to be honest as its a true ending without loose ends in my opinion) as stated. I could name another - Kare Kano for one. Both endings were great for their mangas, even if they took many volumes and trials to reach.

I agree that volume 17 was one of the better endings overall from everything I have read. It leaves nothing unturned and gives a proper ending.

A random question .. but what volume was it again that Tina finds out about the true relationship of Aoi and Kaoru (not that she didn't really guess it anyways since she first met her)

If I remember correct it's around spoiler[15 or 16. I think it's closer to 16 since while everyone finds out in volume 17] I am not fully positive if that is the correct answer but I'll be able to check once I get home.

I agree with everyone here that this series was absolutely fantastic. Although I have read series that had romance aspects before this was really my first pure romance/drama series.

Anyway I actually just finished the series recently. (I started the series because of the "big book" re-release of the first 3 volumes.) I liked the art style and hey it was three volumes of a series for like 16 dollars.

Needless to say I was hooked from the start.

Anyway my own personal interpretation was that Kaoru was 20 at the start making up him 23 just before the epilogue so at the epilogue most of the characters would be in the 26 - 27 age range.

Which I guess is pretty much the concensus here.

Anyway, I'm actually planning to re-read the series soon as, though I just finished, I had to wait for the last 5 volumes because I had to special order them.

Now I'll be able to read the story in its entirety in a relatively short period of time.

Yes this is off topic but does anyone know if Kou Fumizuki is evergoing to do another manga? Or is he just gonna live off of the procedes of Ai Yori Aoshi and all of its related products forever! I really like Ai yori Aoshi and am hoping that another series is in the works.
