I'm more disgusted that politicians have public facebooks than anything. Why not make your facebook under a different name or something?

The comment itself is pretty bad and tasteless, but you can't base this as something to just hate the guy.

I can say for sure that, Nickolas Levasseur, shouldn't be in office. He shouldn't be a garbage man. He shouldn't be even be on the streets begging for money.

The only solution for Nickolas Levasseur, is rocketing him into the sun.

It' less about the anime and more about the fact that he feels Japan should've been nuked more than twice. Anime just being ONE example. I'm sure he has more ideas in his head.

This guy is probably racist and hates people with different tastes than his own to a fault.

I have a feeling people are more mad at the fact he doesn't like anime than his comment.

Now you're just making stupid assumptions. The guy probably made the joke because he thought it was funny.

This guy is an elected official. He should have more tact.

He's an elected official, what does tact have to do with anything?

Please tell me you're joking, you can't possibly be this ignorant.

It's not even the fact that he mentioned anime, the whole comment was reprehensible. He might as well have said "New Yorkers are a prime example of why two airplanes just wasn't enough". It's pretty much the same equivalent.

Is this an attempt at irony? If not, do you realize that this post is almost as bad as the original facebook comment?

What I wonder is if people in this forum would have thought that to be just as bad.

A depressing bit of news from my original home state. Nice to see an appropriate level of public backlash. And "two nukes weren't enough" is not in any way, shape or form or a valid joke. The only joke is covering for this fool by attempting to say it was a failed attempt to be funny. Nobody's laughing. It was an insane and inane comment; it's no more or less complicated than that. And stupidity doesn't become less stupid when it's demonstrated on Facebook.

The Democrat in me is saying "Oh god... a Democrat said that"
The Californian in me is saying "Wow... People in New Hampshire is so white that it must be borderline racist... if someone said that over here they would resign right away."
The comedy writer in me is saying "New Hampshire? Really! The state that lost the monument that lost the monument that was on its state Quarter? I guess all states need a controversy!"

The guy represents fewer people than a small-town mayor... I'm not sure why I should care about his off-color jokes

you should care, these are the type of people who are running the country and make very racial comment and on Face book no less. This guy should be punished. If it were a Republican saying this everyone would be calling for his head. We should hold all government at the same regards.

One, he doesn't run a gosh-darned thing; He's one of four hundred state representatives in a state of about 1.3 million. Two, it's a big leap to assume he was making a racist comment. He clearly hates anime, yes, but it's more likely that a hate for narutards fueled his joke than racism. Joking about nuking Japan, well that's what makes it an off-color joke.

I wonder if this comment wasn't sparked by the Legislator hearing about the recent obscenity cases, and falling for the old "all anime = porn" stereotype. Even journalists still mess that one up.

I guess that asshole wants a sequel to what happened to Ted Kennedy's seat in Massachusetts. Rolling Eyes Hey, buddy, even if we didn't think that comment was offensive, I'm sure the last thing the voters want to hear is your opinion on pop culture.

wandering:

Still, saying two of the most powerful weapons in the world weren't enough to kill the creative spirit of another country, geeze, I'm trying to remember the last time I heard someone say something that immature on the topic.

Some rep said something similar back when the Japanese were trashing our work ethic over their then-dominance of the car industry. I remember, because it was on Limbaugh's then show, and he tried to white-wash it. Mad
