Nice! Shigofumi is finally getting a release here two years after Bandai was supposed to release it. Looking forward to picking it up.

Bandai was supposed to have released Kurokami's first DVD last June, but only did within the last few months. Good going, Section23 for being to pick up what was voted best 2007 anime.

lol So Sola and Shigofumi (did Bandai Ent actually ahve this?) have been through the hands of three companies? A record?

Hey, we may not ever get Legend of the Galactic Heroes licensed, but at least we get Tytania because it is from the same guy.

OMG, the anime Gods are totally smiling on me this week. First, we get the news that Shikibane Hime will be released in September and that Rosario + Vampire is finally licensed. Now Shigofumi is going to be available in August??? Insta-buy.

Unfortunately it's not even a fraction as good. Tanaka delayed writing it nearly 20 years ago, why they adapted it into anime is probably just producers wanting a cheap way to cash in on LoGH more. |

Not to mention the fact that apparently the Tytania anime made a significant amount of changes to the (unfinished) source material, which was arguably for the worse. Honestly though, I don't think that project could have been a success to begin with considering they moved away from the OVA format that had made Legend of the Galactic Heroes work.
Having said that, maybe those who don't have high expectations will be able to salvage something out of this. |

Just thinking the same thing. I don't have much interest in this show, but I'd get Bandai's release before I'd get Sentai's. Also, didn't Bandai just release this show not that long ago? Has their license on it expired that quickly? |
