That really sounds like a stretch...I mean, look around: other anime magazines aren't looking too well these days. Newtype went under in the U.S., and another one went kablooey not too long ago. Shonen Jump and Shojo Beat are making by just because they're already engrained themselves with the public. I doubt Viz will take the risk to bring over a third magazine that nobody might read.

At this time, it would be a bad idea. With the economy the way it is currently, that would be a dangerous move for them, because it would cost more financially and could set up for failure at the same time. Kodansha was trying to set up a US branch, but they're having to put on hold due to the current economical situation. I wouldn't count on it for a while, if it were to even happen. On another note, all of the popular series already have been published well into their respective stories if you look at Shonen Sunday series that are popular such as Case Closed and Inuyasha. It wouldn't make sense to try and bring out the series when there have already been publications in tankobon form for these series.

It's not like they're obligated to since Shonen Sunday is Shogakukan and Shonen Jump is Shueisha. The names are similar, but they come from different publishers. Viz has their hands full with SJ, I don't see them picking up another anthology. Viz does publish a lot of SS titles, but "Shonen Sunday" sounds even more ridiculous to North Americans than "Shonen Jump" does.
Besides, I'd rather see Shonen Gangan published.

In all likelyhood, not for a while at least. The market isn't stable to begin with and a gamble such as licesning Shonen Sunday manga may not be a good idea for Viz Media to do just yet.
I really doubt Shonen Sunday will be published within the next five to ten years though.
