I just finished my first viewing of the movie and found it to be just as good as I had heard/read. I've been a fan of the TV series and I think that helped out with all the information that was thrown at me during the movie. My question is at the end of the movie was that being the offspring of the major and 2501? . It's the only part of the movie that I wasn't clear on after my first viewing tonight Thanks in advance.

Sort of, they merged themselves togather and became one person.

I find that anyone who needs a better understanding of Ghost in the Shell in all of its incarnations should definitely read the manga to get the original story.
Like much of the movie, that part you mentioned is from the end of the manga. It's told a bit differently in the movie, but the end result is the same -- and explained better.

Innocence made a lot more sense when you have a proper subtitle...(I'm not bitter).
I first watched a poor fansub and it made the story more than a little confusing. That and Oshii films often require multiple viewings in order to make total sense. Still...love the man. Love the work. Can't wait for the next one.
