in the plot summary of deathnote it says that ryuk dropped the death note on accident. but it's not an accident.

If you're talking about the plot summary on the Encyclopedia, please submit an Error Report instead of posting a thread about it.

All I've read of Death Note was the preview in Shonen Jump, but if I recall, Ryuk told the other Shinigami that it was an accident, though he actually did it just because he was bored. So really, the encyclopedia isn't that wrong.
