I loved it so much, I need more.

BTW, does the Genshiken manga continue where the anime left off?

the genshiken manga does continue where the anime left off, and is still going. and despite being on the list above comic party isnt all that similar to genshiken at all. i found it to be a pretty sub par series to boot

Although already pointed out, Comic Party will probably pique your interest if you like Genshiken. A friend of mine loves both. Smile

I was also going to mention Comic Party, but Martian Successor Nadesico spends a fair amount of time making fun of otaku and making culture references as well. It's in the context of a space anime, so it's not exactly like Genshiken and Comic Party.

Comic Party may interest you. It is about a high school boy as he learns to become a doujin (fan comic) artist. It has a number of references to other anime in it, and handy DVD insert booklets to help you with them.

There is a wonderful live action British comedy series called Spaced, where the main character is a major Otaku who wants to make his own graphic novel. Although most of the jokes reference films like Star Wars, Matrix, 2001, Evil Dead, and Terminator, or tv shows like X-Files, Babylon 5, and Trek, there are a couple of anime references. Even though it isn't about anime, it really is a story about life as an otaku.
