Your cleaner software is deleting your cookies.
People are under the mistaken belief that cookies are bad. This is completely untrue. Cookies are a very useful tool that websites use to keep track of your user settings and what not. Generally speaking, the only website that has access to your cookies is the website that puts them there. So the ANN cookie can't be ready by other websites, and ANN can't read ookies from other websites (like your bank). Still cookies aren't especially secure, so it's common practice not to keep sensitive information in them. Your bank for example won't put your account numbers in your cookies, they'll just put your login ID (some banks wont even do this), and settings (like what resolution you want to view the site in) and etc... Cookies can also be hacked, sometimes, and some services use them to track your actions online. The online tracking is the most common form of "abuse" or invasion of privacy, that takes place through cookies. It is a good practice to periodically clean your cookies, and to even restrict what sites can place cookies on your computer, but do so selectively. Don't delete the cookies to sites you frequent regularly for example. I recommend you search online for a more comprehensive explanation of the good and bad about cookies. But remember, as long as you don't know what something does, don't "fix" it. -t |
