No it didn't. Because, you know, Kimi no na wa. isn't the best thing ever and other films can compete with it.

No, because Shinkai got the nod for Best Director for it. This is an equitable split. A fantastic film won the best picture and a fantastic director won that award for his best film... yet. I think he has better in him.
