Viz also published one volume (of 8) of Kazuya Kudo's and Naoki Urasawa's Pineapple Army in 1990.

Good on Urasawa for apparently changing his mind. I too prefer physical books, but it's nice to give your readers options, and ebook technology has come a long way.
Incidentally, is this his first series with a female protagonist since Yawara!?

I picked up this volume after reading the House of 1000 Manga column about it. Urasawa's art style was more obviously influenced by Katsuhiro Otomo back then, but in general, it was a fun read. I'd like to see the whole series in English some day.

He followed up Yawara! (1986 - 1993) with Happy! (1993 - 1999). Instead of girl very gifted but uninterested in judo, it's about a girl very gifted but uninterested in tennis. Though, instead of a grandfather, it's a huge debt that gets her to do judo/tennis anways.
