I had just a few questions about these two movies.

I have shopped around everywhere for a copy of GITS 2 innocence that has been dubbed and I have come up dry. Is there an american dubbed version out there or is it only the english sub?

And

When does Solid State Society come out and will it have an english dub?

GITS 2 is a crumby sub only release from Dreamworks here in America. Elsewhere they've got the Stand Alone Complex cast to dub it. Mad

As far as I know there isn't a release date set for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex-Solid State Society yet. I suggest checking this site out every so offen for updates on that and any other anime/manga/soundtracks you may be interested in.

Import the UK one, it's a really nice copy and it has an English dub (not watched the dub though.) Also, you can get it from Amazonfor only £6, which really isn't bad.

I ordered the UK R2 version of Innocence from eBay so I wouldn't have to worry about conversion. With shipping, it cost about $25. But of course you'd need to have an all region player as well, so if you don't have one, don't get it.

The dub sounds just like SAC, but I'm not that big a fan of it anyway. If you liked the SAC dub, then I guess you'll like Innocence's.

Just a question: I thought that R2 releases in the UK (unlike Japan) were PAL format, and would either require a multistandard TV or a DVD player that does PAL<->NTSC conversion. I've actually been quite interested in picking up a dubbed copy, but haven't due to this. Have I been mistaken about something?

Whoops. Yeah, forgot to mention the PAL part Anime smallmouth + sweatdrop. Altogether, it's UK R2 PAL DVD (say that three times fast Razz). But in addition to being all region, my player can also convert PAL into NTSC. If you're curious on how to bypass region coding or finding players capable of all the above, I made a thread about this topic a long time ago that still might prove useful.

God that is so weak, why would they release an english dub only in the U.K. and not here in the U.S. That seems so ridiculous. I can' believe this crap, so there are no future plans for an innocence dub in the U.S. huh? Bummer.....well that means I have to buy an all region bootleg than Twisted Evil , that is their loss. I would much rather buy a legit version but there isn't one.

I just said it's UK R2 PAL. Regardless of region, it's still legit. But if you don't want to invest in an all region player (which is actually quite useful for other types of DVDs, if you're into foreign movies) and will openly admit to pirating, then guess I can't stop you Shocked.

Remember that licenses are bought from Japan are based on regions they are released for - license for UK can be bought by a totally different company than the one who's releasing it for US, and they make different decisions about all production work, dubs, subs, release formats, artwork etc. The world doesn't revolve around US. Most anime releases you guys get are faster (and better? haven't seen many European releases) than in Europe, if one title fails to do that it's not the end of the world.

I understand that, but I am not going to invest money into an all region DVD player just for one movie. I would buy the sub before that.

Thanks, that's what I thought. At the moment, if I do buy it, it'll have to be the R1 release *grumble*. I just bought a DD/DTS 5.1 system this year, and really don't feel in the market to buy any additional hardware.

Aren't there all kinds of software that can play DVDs regardless of region? Just buy the R2 DVD and play it on the computer. Don't use that as a flimsy excuse for piracy.

Being a fan of Blake's 7, Black Books, Spaced and many other British shows I own a small collection of UK discs. Amazon UK tends to have most of their popular anime at around 50% off. I would say that it is worth getting a PAL player for the Optimum releases of the unreleased R1 Ghibli films.
