I was really hyped for this show when it was announced and really wanted to like it, but compared to other boys doing sports anime airing this season (AoAshi, Love All Play, DDD if you want to count it as sports), it somehow failed to make an impact in spite of its comparatively unique setting. It's quite telling that it manages to be even more unfocused and boring than Love All Play which honestly i've kept watching because at least there i can tell the characters apart from each other and little more.
The atrocious looking horses were definitely a big mark against it, and although i can understand that animating moving horses is a challenge, this is an original project, which begs the question of why decide to make an original anime about horse racing if you don't have the staff/time/capabilities to properly animate horses. I also felt the direction was kind of misleading on that first episode: we get that flowery romantic scene of Shu catching Yu princess style that seemed to promise we'd at least get some subtextual romance between the two boys and then they kind of barely spoke again in the three episodes i watched. Seems i didn't miss out on much since then

I'm ok with the horses' animation (it's about what I expected), but what I can't get past is how they render their facial markings, so that they look more like donkeys than horses. I also don't understand why these jockeys are training for show jumping alongside track racing. These are very different skills. Might as well throw in some sulky work while they're at it.
As far as Miku being a love interest for Shun, I think she's in middle school? I don't know, but she acts like she's a lot younger than him (though she might have a one-sided crush).

Everytime I hea Hanae Natsuki struggling with English in a role I remember that one video from his let's-play channel where "You are trash" suddenly appears on the walls and he says "Joke's on you, I don't understand English!"
