In fact, the manga-ka Hisa Masato also did design-related work for some tokusatsu TV shows such as Super Sentai shows and Kamen Rider shows. Hisa Masato also draws the Mirrorman 2D manga (Mirrorman was a tokusatsu TV show produced by Tsuburaya Productions in the 1970s).
Hisa Masato's father is famous illustrator Hisa Kunihiko, and he, too, is related to tokusatsu. Hisa Kunihiko appeared in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993) and Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995). It is said that the reason why Hisa Kunihiko was invited to act in those Godzilla films is that Miyoshi Kunio, who was the first assistant director of those Godzilla films, was a kōhai of Hisa's at a manga club of Keiō University. Since Hisa Kunihiko is famous also for his books about dinosaurs, in a sense, he was fit to appear in kaijū films.
Hisa Masato, too, was a member of a manga club at Keiō University (an old boy network?). Whether it was the same club as the father's is unclear, though.
