Crazy how a fan animation gets a dub AND a second season.

I hope the article meant to say episode 12 is airing on June 18, not January 18.

Sadly this anime gets a lot of likes on Crunchyroll this season. I guess people that talked about it negatively still boost the anime. Well the best way to disliked the anime adaptation is to not talked about it. I'm really surprised that it's getting a lot of likes on Crunchyroll. Also TBATE is most discussed anime this season in the west like what happened? Sad

That's interesting. I guess it did well on streaming based on hype? I don't have CR right now, so I haven't checked it out, but the clips I've seen and word or mouth have all been pretty negative.

Should be clarified that this is one of the many cases where the anime was greenlit as two cours from the start. Although it seems to have performed decent on Japanese streaming, this isn't a case where the anime was immensely successfull or even a result of "hatewatching" resulting on a immediate sequel, or something along those lines.

There was nothing of that - it's literally been produced with two cours at same time from the very beginning and that was already common knowledge before the show even started, so any viewership impact have nothing to do with it.

Yes, the ANN article about the announcement back in October said the adaptation would have 24 episodes. It was mentioned in the ANN article about the initial cast announcements as well. However, neither article mentioned that they would be in split cours though.

I'd never use CR's star rating system as a means to gauge popularity. You can vote without even having watched the show.

I watch the show every week and I can barely muster a yay, it is just such an okayish adaptation.

Everyone knew it was split-cour since the start since it was written that it was on JP sources before it even aired.

In my opinion it was an okay-ish show. The story itself was solid, the style of being something like an auto-biography of the protagonist Arthur is similar to Mushoku Tensei.
The MC does get some character development too from "wanting to receive power to subjugate others" to "wanting to receive power to save those dear to him". He also gets to know what is like being a normal child (if we cast the fantasy setting aside).

The animation are the biggest issue the show has to deal with. It was not the best but I have seen worse. While I think the characters seemed stiff and awkward in several scenes, the fight and action scenes did not look well animated as well (there I have way better animation) it was not the worst animation I ever have witnessed. There were disasters like "Whisper Me a Love Song" (which was very sad because that was a title I was eagerly waiting for), "Tamayomi", the second season of "KimiSen" before its discontinuation last year (I haven't seen the redone version yet) andspoiler[ most of the (cultured) works produced at Queen Bee].

The last episode though had scenes where I thought "okay that was clearly done by PowerPoint".

I've never seen a single person mention this series & have seen no clips from social media. All I know about it is that the animation was a disaster & that the author had to beg people to give it a chance & be more understanding of the staff involved.
