This continues to look surprisingly good. I kinda thought they wouldn’t adapt the giants.

Would've more expected Laboon to get the cut, it'd be pretty easy to fold Miss Wednesday and Mr. 9 into Whisky Peak and like with 4Kids it'll be a miracle if they manage to make it to Thriller Bark

It'll be interesting to see what they end up cutting aside from the obvious filler.

This will be Netflix fans' first time seeing how big One Piece's world can be and it's still just a tiny bit of it. It looks like they're showing a lot, but they aren't even touching Drum Kingdom in this trailer, Chopper doesn't appear at all and that makes me even more excited.

Not a chance it gets that far. season 3 is the last one- that's my bet. they will cover alabasta and wrap it up.

Sure, with the current cast.

But I could genuinely see a situation where you recast the show and try to keep pressing forward. It’s odd, but it may be the only way to pull it off.

There is always the sunk-cost fallacy, which admittedly is unheard of for Netflix. Even if the spiralling costs end up not being offset by subscriber growth and retention, they've already put a lot in already.

Marine Ford might be the breaking point. 20ft man who causes earth quacks with his fists, multiple logic users, a giant, a fish man and all sorts of other costly effects in the same episodes. But then again, that is many years from now, so who knows.

I could see this and then just continue with the anime remake as their One Piece show going forward.

People need to finally realize that the remake won't cover the entire series either. Mayumi Tanaka is already 70 years old and Wit is still working on East Blue with the progress being very slow according to the character designer.

I haven’t kept up with the news about the remake. Has it been confirmed that it is using the same cast? The remake might be a good time to start recasting people like Daima did for DBZ if they plan on milking it after Oda is done with the main story.

Nah, they aren't recasting anyone because the remake isn't meant to replace the main anime. The current cast is associated with the characters to such a degree that they made a huge deal when retiring Franky's voice actor.

Also, Daima technically didn't recast the adult characters outside of cases like Yamcha but for a different reason.

I'm sure they could have but I assume it was an intentional change and they're going for a Arabasta = Middle Eastern = Dark Skin thing over accuracy to the manga. Igaram was also changed.

A better question might be why they cast Indian and Black actors so far for the Arabasta characters over Middle-Eastern actors but that probably has to do with current events and politics within Hollywood and the people working on the live-action series.
