I had started watching this because the idea that she didn't want to end up as essentially "evil" was compelling enough, but as the first season went on, things started to drag a bit. The show became a bit less about the main character and started featuring more of the side ones. It's not even functioning too well as a harem anime, because the main character has kinda faded in relevance to the background.
It's something that bothers me with the Kakegurui anime - Yumeko becomes so Mary Sue-adjacent that she stops being a compelling character, and turns into a plot device in a show that sort of revolves around her.... and it feels like it's happening here. I hope they can pull up and make the second season more interesting, because the last episode or so of the first season was hardcore putting me to sleep. |
