I just have to ask the following: What the Hell is up with that animation?

It could be worse, it could be GoHands. I expected the worst when seeing that image, but after watching the trailer fortunately it doesn't seem to be them.

Been reading the manga, quite fun mystery-detective story.

The “animation” is a bunch of colored manga panels moving a bit to tease the anime because there’s no footage ready. I’ve seen this kinda thing before when manga first announce anime adaptation. Or as commercial for the manga itself. Doubt this reflects the final product, given we don’t have a single staff announcement yet

Pretty much a first time for me, yeah. I mean, when there's no footage, usually it's stills.

Though yeah, it's not GoHands.

I love GoHands. Some of the best animation I've seen in The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses and Momentary Lily.

Well... if it makes you happy, then all is well with the world, and I am glad somebody enjoys it.

The last anime I cared about from that studio were Coppelion and K.

Very distinct possibility that this is intended to be a "light anime" (i.e., one which has limited animation often involving little more than putting manga images in motion). We've been getting one or two of those a season for at least the past year now, but they aren't usually picked up by the regular streaming services so they don't get talked about much around here. They're also usually shorts. (The Great Sage Ryddel and the Hands of Time is an example of such a series in the current season.)

Thank you for the heads-up. I had heard that term before (light anime) but didn't pay too much attention to that emerging trend.
