Thanks for the article.
Also, I think that the Japanese anime industry cares a LOT more for Annecy than for the Crunchyroll Anime Awards™. They wanted to be in France; the winners always place the "Winner at Annecy" at their posters, while they don't even care if they got one CA award or three (not speak about attending).

| Quote: | | La Chouette Compagnie also made Dragon Striker for Disney+, built with Japanese artists who worked on One Piece and My Hero Academia. Go and watch it. It is wonderful, the closest thing we have to the next Avatar: The Last Airbender right now. |
I'd just like to echo this as I watched it last night, and Dragon Striker does rule.

I often read about Annecy's Animation Festival in 90s french anime magazines and Porco Rosso winning first place in 1993 led to a brief news segment on TV, which in turn led me to discover Studio Ghibli in general.
It's only in 2022 that I visited Annecy for the first time, though, together with two other fellow anime fans who have visited Annecy for many years up 'til then and still do, not only for the general movie screenings but also fo MIFA. I watched Misaki no Mayoiga which I truly enjoyed. I saw Guillermo del Toro signing autographs for fans. I loved the atmosphere at the festival & in the city and seeing so many people enjoying anime and animation in general. I wish I could visit the festival again in the following years. Unfortunately, it usually takes place in June when I can't have holidays.
