There's a great interview with Stephen Robson, the man behind the ever-so mysterious publishing house Fanfare up at mangablog. I believe this is the first time the company has ever gotten profiled in-depth like this, and it certianly clears up alot of questions I'm sure many people have (why are they so slow/seemingly disorginized; why are the books so expensive; how come some people have The Building Opposite and otheres don't). Definitally gives some insight into just how difficult an operation is (I had no idea it was a single person on this side of the Atlantic) and makes you appriciate Robson's commitment. Its also great to hear that the bookstore deal is working for him and that Fanfare will be publishing more books than ever (6 to 8) this year.

Very interesting read, thanks for sharing it Kagemusha. I thought that Ponent Mon was making the English editions too, now it makes sense, so that's why it takes long, I suppose that in Spain it will be a similar way of running the business.
Incredible stuff, I wish them both all the best because they publish some really amazing work, prices might be higher but I think they are worth it, because the quality is higher too. |
