I maintain a modern arts(film, music, games) club at my school.I want to show some anime, but I don't know what the first should be.So far the films we've shown have been Citizen Kane and Airplane.

How well did Citizen Kane go over? Did people actually watch it/sit through it? If so then try something somewhat meaningful like Grave of the Fireflies. If you're looking for something a bit more entertaining and action oriented then how about Castle in the Sky. I'm assuming this is a High School club?

I guess you could also try

Metropolis
Princess Mononoke
Spriggan
Vampre Hunter D: Bloodlust

You should also consider Grave of the Fireflies or Wings of Honneamise.

Vampire Hunter D would definatley be the BEST choice possible! That art in it is beautiful. But, if you want something with lots of humor, show Excel Saga! But, in small doses though, don't want to have too many crazy people, eh? Surprised

I see. Well my best advice would be too try picking something that they aren't likely to watch on their own. Also avoid anything that shows up on cable. If i was in your possition I would stay away from popular titles and go with a sleeper hit, something good that not a lot of people have seen.

I think that he's looking for movies rather than tv shows, and if he wants shows he probablly shouldn't pick comedies like FMP, Love Hina, FLCL, because I think they are looking for more serious stuff than boob jokes, and I don't know about ROLW.

If they liked those those movies, I'd stray away from anything too popular. For example, they might enjoy Millenium Actress. If you're willing to show unlicensed stuff, perhaps even Gauche the Cellist.
