It was a great year for anime, expect for that little thing called "Toonami." I think that 2003 was its lowest point in Toonami history. Although they say that ratings are high with SD Gundam, I've stopped watching Toonami, which I didn't want to do, but I had to... Crying or Very sad Just look at the lineup they're offering... Mad It's really poor compared to 2000's lineup, when Toonami had their glory.

Now, I hope that they'll show authentic Gundam shows, like Z, ZZ, or the return of Wing, and bring WHR to the lineup Very Happy - although it'll end up on Adult Swim. Sad Maybe they should try to pick up Naruto to show in the near future when it travels across the big pond...

Only Zeta was supposed to by here by now. The reason for the delay was the switch in dubbing studios set back the release schedule. WHR is scheduled for Adult Swim in February, so that isn't coming to toonami. Since CN lost the rights to Outlaw Star, I doubt they plan to spend the money to reaquire it.

Although as of right now their lineup pretty much sucks, it wasn't too bad until they took Kenshin and put it on that Saturday thing. So, from what I've seen, the year was good for about six months or so, then it got bad. So, not all of it was bad in my opinion.

If they were to return Gundam Wing, as good as a series it is, it probably wouldn't do much for their ratings, it was showing a lot back when Sailor Moon was big at my house, but, as of right now, they probably won't show it for a couple more years or so. As of what I see so far, they're trying to keep things newer, something some of the older viewers haven't seen yet, and it would catch more people. So, once they do this, they may bring it back. I think (correct me if I'm wrong), but I think that's what they did with Yu Yu Hakashu (sorry if that's spelled wrong.) Just a thought.

I only have three things to say about Toonami in 2003:

1. Yuu Yuu Hakusho seems to be doing well. Hope it keeps up.

2. Dragon Ball GT and SD Gundam Force are steaming piles of--well, you get the idea.

3. The mistreatment of Rurouni Kenshin sickens me to my very core!

That is all.

I know that WHR is slated for a Adult Swim showing, but did they try to bring it to Toonami?

Toonami: All-action block of programming designed to appeal to an 8-12 age bracket.

Witch Hunter Robin: Anime series focusing on drama and character development, light on action, aimed at (correct me if I'm wrong) a 17+ age bracket.

Something doesn't quite fit here. Wink

Anyway, Adult Swim tends to edit much less, so the chance of WHR getting cut up like Kenshin is much lower.

I hope Naruto gets onto Adult Swim, altough it will probably make it Toonami assuming the right licensors pick it up. Shame though, since it will probably get some ridiculous edits.

Cartoon Network did score a major coup by showing FLCL, for that, I'm appreciative. Big O season 2 wasn't too shabby either.

People seem to have forgotten that Toonami isn't an anime block. It's an action block. Anime found an outlet there, but Toonami wasn't and *probably* will never be restricted to anime. That's why we got Justice League and other decidedly non-anime shows on Toonami. I'd like to see Naruto come to Toonami, although that probably won't happen until GT is dead and gone. Long live Toonami, they bring in numerous (though young) anime fans. Eventually, those young ones tire of Toonami, and look to Adult Swim. After that, they're old and well enough to find their own anime. (Like most of the people here.)
