I'm pretty musch a huge fan of the Ultimate Muscle and Kinnikuman franchise, it's one of my all time fav Shonen Jump titles next to Naruto, Onepiece, and Shaman King, I first started getting hooked to the franchise by watching the Dubbed version of Ultimate Muscle on 4Kids Tv (which is the sequel to the Original 80's Kinnikuman)
in Japan, Ultimate Muscle is known as Kinnikuman II: Nesei. In japan, the franchise was pretty Much as Big as DBZ and Gundam, but here in america, it was nearly unknown.
During the Time I was watching Ultimate Muscle, I decided to get hooked on the Manga based on the original 80's Kinnikuman scanlated by Toriyama World. The Manga of the original 80's Kinnikuman first appeared in Shonen Jump in 1979 and had a total of 32 volumes which spawned in anime adaption in 1983 with a total of 137 episodes. the original 80's took place many years during the time Suguru Kinnikuman/King Muscle (the father of Mantaro/Kid Muscle) was the main character.
Than Years later, the Sequel Kinnikuman II Nesei (known here in america as Ultimate Muscle) came out which takes place many years after the ending of the original 80's Kinnikuman which this one features the characters that most people are familiar with like Kid Muscle, Terry Kenyon, ect.
So anyway, I love this serious, it has some of the most Mature Gross out humor mixed in with the wrestling action, at first, the franchise started out as random comedy, but than it got seriouse like the Dragonball franchise. the Original 80's Kinnikuman was alot more violent than it's Sequel Kinnikuman Nesei. Despite the Fact the Tv series Ultimate Muscle ended, the Manga is still ongoing today with 29 volumes. and lets not forget that during the 80's Mattel Licensed the early Rubber pink toy franchises of Kinnikuman as M.U.S.C.L.E here in the states.
So, who else here enjoys this Manga series. [/b]

The Canuckler got pretty huge laughs out of me when I learned of his existence. Ultimate Muscle is one of those shows that I watch(ed) purely for the fact that the dub was so bad and/or the plot and characters were so insipid and garbled that I just couldn't do anything but watch in horror and laugh my ass off.

I was going to check this series out, but unfortunately really bad reviews of it drove me away. I don't know though, maybe I should care a little less about what others say? Don't know if I'll like it or not until I actually read it, huh?

The manga was really good back when I read it. I love how ridiculous the drama and special moves are....and the acctual wrestling (i.e. NWO) reference was funny as well.
I'm not a big fan of the anime though, it's just not on the same level as the original manag. Wasn't it call kid muscle or something here in the US.
