What are your opinions on X, as this is the next anime that I might watch. I read a review about it at theanimereview and they gave it a D+ and said it was one of the worst ever.

How good is it and should I watch it. After seeing a masterpiece like Rurouni Kenshin 1-62 I want to see something that is good or even better than Kenshin thnx.

D+? Are talking about the movie or the TV series?

That was the movie he rated. I HIGHLY recommend the TV series, as I rated it Masterpiece.

The animation is top notch, the music is dramatically fitting, and the voice acting is good in either language. But what makes this show so great is the story and character development.

Here's some info from the Encyclopedia.

From what I hear though, the movie is just a rushed version, so I'd recommend the series only (but I haven't seen the movie, so don't restrict yourself because of me Smile).

Very well executed. Another series from CLAMP so it has beautiful fluid animation. This is a different kind of genre for CLAMP, a supernatural action series with a gothic flair. They did almost suprisingly well; they definitely pulled off a shounen feel with the series, with some shounen-ai moments of course(it's CLAMP, what do you expect?). The music has a dark feel to it and is very fitting. A definite must-buy. You'll love it I'm sure.

The movie got a good review(ANN did one, high rating) but is generally disliked. The movie was a sort of rushed feature as stated by Toni but managed to depict the Final Battle very well; I can't believe that ANN gave it a good rating on music though. The movie's music had an outdated feel; I wished it could have been cleaner. Also, the producer/director wanted jazz in there which was a huge mistake in my opinion; the music from the Manga trailer had a much better feel(the theatrical trailer is really good). Overall, it was a bloody masterpiece though; I enjoyed it, the music wasn't bad enough to make me turn off the sound. The violence has an elegant touch to it and is the action sequences are pretty good. Plot-wise it falls short because too much information was being crammed into the movie. A must-buy with the series in my opinion.

I HUGHLY suggest you take a look at the TV series. An example of a great anime and one of CLAMP's best. I am buying the boxset...(if there is one)

I've seen the movie but not the tv series. In my opinion the movie was very touching and very good. I liked everything about the movie but the animation did seem a bit blurred. Other than that I really liked it and the ending song was very good.

I really liked the movie. Anyone who gave that film a D+ has zero objectivity and has no right writing reviews in the first place. Of course, I bought the film because Rintaro directed it. I haven't read the manga, although I hear they did the movie a while before the manga was finished. But I think manga and anime adaptions should be judged by their own merits anyways. Overall, my suggestion is to listen to what Flava Flav said and "Don't believe the hype." Lots of the anime that gets glorified isn't all its made out to be. By the same token, alot of the anime that gets trashed by those band-wagon riders is actually pretty good.

Actually, the box comes with Vol.1, but it's limited, and I believe that version comes with a slipcase for the DVD as well.

However, if you get that box and Vol.1 w/ slipcase, you'd want to have the rest of the DVDs match with their own slipcases, right?

Well, those volumes are limited too, and are becoming harder to find now. Heck, I had to pay $185 on eBay to get a used version of the entire thing (limited edition, by the way Razz).

8 volumes, 2 versions, 1 future... Razz.

So now full boxset? Also I found volume 1 with the box and slipcase for 28.95! But I already have vol 1/w out box. Also Best Buy had volume 2 with the slip case for 19.90. So I picked that up.

I've seen X TV but not the movie. The TV series is pretty good if you like fantasy,sci-fi anime. The story does not develop as good as I expected(should be longer then 26 eps) but overall above average anime and not more(or less) then that.

my favorite anime. Its got everything, romance, action, betrayal, an amazing musical score, superb actions, and quite possibly the best cast of characters ever created in an anime.

This series is a must see.

btw i hated the movie. (maybe because i watched the tv series first, but trust me the movie does not even come close to the tv series)

First of all, the movie is a quick, semi-incoherent, and worthy of the D+ rating.

The series is awesome. Characters on both sides of the conflict are sympathetic and likable. Some people are either going to be either fasinated or bored by the Japanese mysticisim and there is a lot subtext you can pick up on, for example spoiler[ many of the Dragons of Heaven tend to be assoiated with traditional religous institutions such as Shinto Shrines and Buddhist Monastaries while the Dragons of Earth tend to be assoiated the Modern Japan of Buercracy, Zaibatsu, and the SDF, and absent parents.]
There is also a lot of set up in the early episodes, which some might find slow.
If none of that bothers you, I highly recomend this.

All the best,

Nani?

I myself have not seen the movie as of yet, but I have seen the series and I absolutely loved it. It can be a bit slow at times, but I love anime like that (i.e. Juuni Kokki, Naruto, Wolf's Rain, etc...) . I also loved the artwork and the music. X tv has a great story and imo it develops the characters well. It's also considered shoujo, but there is also plenty of things in the series that guys would like. Such as the fight scenes and Kanoe Wink. So, I highly recommend that you check out this series.

It doesn't seem very shoujo to me even though it was made by Clamp. Of course I think these titles don't really aply to everything anyways.
